Two new names have joined the list of carmakers who have hiked prices in 2015. Mercedes and Mitsubishi have announced a hike in prices to offset the increased excise duty, after the excise duty cuts offered by the government were rolled back.

Mitsubishi offers only one vehicle in India right now, the Pajero Sport. With the excise duty on SUVs going up to 30 percent from 24 percent, the automatic variant of the Pajero Sport now costs Rs 24.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the manual variant is priced at Rs 25.28 lakh. Rising input cost faced by carmakers has also lead to a price hike of Rs 1.43 - 1.48 lakh.

Mercedes on the other hand, has increased prices of all models across its portfolio in India. The prices will be hiked by four percent from January 22 to deal with the impact of higher excise duty.
