Adding to its already remarkable growth momentum, Mercedes-Benz India today announced that it has registered a growth of 34 percent in its sales from January to September at 10,079 units – a few hundred units shy of the entire 2014 sales volume (10,201 units). The German luxury carmaker achieved sales of 3,420 units in the July-September quarter, a growth of 22 percent as compared to the 2,812 units during the same time last year.
This sales growth during the first nine months of the year was led by the CLA, the C-class and the E-class sedans in addition to strong performance from the SUV portfolio as well, according to the carmaker.
“I am glad to see the India strategy is bearing fruit, and we are well poised for entering the Q4 with a very strong footing…The success of the first three quarters has been in line with our expectations and we are confident of achieving our target of a sustainable double digit growth,” said Roland Folger, newly appointed managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India.
While the carmaker’s portfolio of luxury sedans grew by 39 percent (Jan-Sep 2015), the SUV portfolio comprising the GLA, M-class and GL-class grew by 70 percent during the same timeframe.
Mercedes has been on a product offensive this year and has launched 12 new products so far as a part of its '15 in 15' product strategy for the year. The most recent launch was the ultra luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S600 and the Mercedes-Maybach S500, which also marked the re-introduction of the Maybach brand in India. Mercedes-Benz India and is now gearing up to launch the new GLE on October 14, 2015.
Moreover, the carmaker has inaugurated 13 new outlets since January, thereby expanding network presence pan India to 80 outlets across 39 cities.
