The rush for Fortuner -- Toyota’s bestseller SUV in India, continues. During the month-long booking window from July 1, Toyota dealers received 3004 bookings for the Fortuner, that’s an average of 100 bookings a day.

This has taken the total number of Fortuner bookings at Toyota’s hands to over 6,000 units. The company had earlier shut bookings on January 31 for 5 months due to a big order backlog. Toyota Kirloskar Motor is now further ramping up Fortuner’s production from the current monthly level of 1,000 units.

The company plans to clear the booking backlog by December, after which it will re-open bookings in January, 2011. The Toyota Fortuner was launched in India in August 2009. Since launch, it also got an upgradation in its braking system in April this year.
