Hyundai has launched a more affordable S+ automatic variant of the diesel Creta at Rs 13.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Until now, the carmaker had the automatic option only on the top-spec SX+ variant. The new S+ diesel AT is cheaper than the SX+ variant by almost Rs 1.06 lakh.

The Creta S+ diesel automatic is powered by a 1.6-litre CRDi, four-cylinder engine producing 128hp and 259.87Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Features offered as standard include a 7.0-inch touchscreen audio system with six speakers, Bluetooth streaming, 1GB HDD, dual airbags, ABS and foglamps. It does, however, miss out on features such as projector headlamps, a dual-tone grille, push button start, automatic climate control, and the rear wiper that is offered on the SX+ variant.

The automatic diesel Creta S+ couldn't have come at a better time, as the demand for automatic gearbox-equipped SUVs in our market is on the rise. Earlier this year, the carmaker launched a petrol automatic variant of the Creta.

According to reports, there is a two-month waiting period for the Creta S+ diesel AT.
