Chevrolet Essentia expected price, specifications, features

With nearly every major carmaker offering a sub-four-metre compact sedan, Chevrolet is about to introduce one of its own – the Essentia. The car made its global debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in a near-production concept avatar, and is expected to make it to the showrooms in March 2017. Here are some details.

Chevrolet Essentia specifications

The Essentia compact sedan is based on the upcoming next-gen Beat, with which, it will share its mechanicals. Its engine line-up will comprise three-cylinder units, which include a new 1.0-litre petrol and the current car’s 1.1-litre diesel.

Chevrolet showcased the Essentia at the Auto Expo 2016. It featured quite a spacious and premium interior, which is likely to be carried over into the production car. Expect the final car to even get the company’s MyLink touchscreen infotainment system.

Chevrolet Essentia expected price
Since the Beat is a size smaller than hatchbacks like the Maruti Swift, its compact sedan sibling won’t be a direct competitor to surrent sub-four metre sedans like the MarutiDzire, the Tata Zest and the Volkswagen Ameo. Instead, it will take on the Tata Tiago based Kite 5, which is also expected to arrive in 2017. Prices for the Essentia are likely to hover around the Rs 4.5-6.5 lakh mark.
