New Maruti Alto K10

Maruti has launched the new Alto K10 at Rs 3.06  lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Alto K10 comes with considerable mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. Like the previous Alto K10 was based on the standard Alto, the new Alto K10 is based on the Alto 800.

On the mechanical front, the new Alto K10 is powered by a 998cc, three-cylinder K10 petrol engine that churns out 67bhp and 9.1kgm of torque. Although this is the same engine as before, it has been tweaked with to improve the fuel efficiency. There are two transmission options, which is the highlight of the new model. Apart from the standard five-speed manual, the new Alto K10 gets an AMT (automated manual transmission). This is the first time Maruti has offered the Alto in India with an automatic gearbox.

On the outside, the Alto K10 gets a new grille with a chrome outline, new headlamps, new front and rear bumpers and a set of new taillights. On the inside, there's a new two-tone dashboard with a new style for the centre-console and audio system finished in glossy black.

The top-specced trim boasts of features like a driver airbag, front fog lamps and remote central locking.

The Alto has always been a very high-selling model in India. This new Alto K10, equipped with AMT and priced lower than the Celerio, makes it the most affordable AMT-equipped model. Needless to say, Maruti seems to have the perfect plan to keep the Alto at the top of the sales charts.
