The Xiaomi YU7 GT with Track Package became the first vehicle to lap the Nurburgring autonomously, or without a human driver. The performance EV completed the entire 20.8km circuit in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds, but this is not Xiaomi's first achievement at the Nurburgring. In May 2026, the YU7 GT set a new production SUV lap record with a time of 7 minutes and 34.93 seconds, beating the previous record held by the Audi RS Q8 Performance by 1.76 seconds. Last year, a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype completed the circuit in 6 minutes and 22.09 seconds, making it seven seconds quicker than the Mercedes-AMG One.
- YU7 GT's 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds lap time is the slowest around the Ring
- It gets a 1,003hp dual-motor setup, powered by a 101.kWh battery pack
Xiaomi YU7 GT Nurburgring lap details
During the run, the YU7 GT navigated all 73 corners of the Ring, along with its roughly 300 metres of elevation change and constantly changing road surface conditions, without driver intervention. According to Xiaomi, its autonomous driving system continuously monitors vehicle behaviour and road conditions. The system manages steering, braking and power delivery in real time to keep the vehicle stable, particularly during high speeds. The Nurburgring autonomous driving project project is also being used by Xiaomi to gather data in extreme driving conditions, helping the company further refine its technology.
