First revealed at the Paris motor show four years ago, the Skoda Fabia will be updated for 2018, and the refreshed hatchback is due to be shown at the Geneva motor show in March. The design sketch released by Skoda show the Fabia with mild styling tweaks.

LED tail-lights will be made available for the first time on the model, although they will likely be reserved for higher-spec SE L and Monte Carlo models.

LED headlights are also among the revisions, but appear likely to remain a similar shape to the current car's, rather than being bisected like the controversial new headlights of the Octavia.

As with other models recently released by Skoda, more ‘Simply Clever’ features will make it into the Fabia. Past efforts include a parking ticket holder in the windscreen and cupholders designed to allow one-handed opening of bottles.

The Volkswagen Group’s three-cylinder 1.0 TSI engine has already made it into pre-facelift Fabias, having replaced the 90hp 1.2 TSI engine.

It’s not yet known if the new 1.5 TSI Evo engine will make it into the car, but the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza already offer the motor, so it seems likely.

In India, Skoda used to sell the second-gen Fabia until 2014, when it discontinued the model due to slow sales. The Czech carmaker also declined to bring the new-gen model to India, where it sells the new Octavia, the Superb, the Rapid and the Kodiaq. An India launch for the new Karoq is expected sometime later this year.
