The Gravite will arrive as the only competitor to the Renault Triber in the sub-4m MPV space.

Nissan India has confirmed that it’ll pull the covers off its upcoming compact MPV, the Gravite, on January 21. With its full price announcement slated for March, the Gravite will be the first of three new Nissan launches for India by 2027.

  1. Gravite is Nissan’s first compact MPV and is set for a launch in March
  2. It shares platform with Triber and will feature design similarities inside and out
  3. It’s likely to get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with manual and AMT options

Platform sibling to the Triber

Based on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Renault Triber, the Gravite will sport similar styling elements and sub-4m proportions. To help differentiate the Gravite from the Triber, Nissan has incorporated new LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), wheels, bumpers, colours, a larger grille, and more.

While the Nissan Gravite interior is yet to be shown, we expect a 7-seater layout largely similar to that of the Triber, save for differences in the colour scheme and trim pieces. In terms of features, the Gravite could offer an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start/stop, rain-sensing wipers, a wireless charging pad, a cooled glove box, and more.

72hp 1.0-litre petrol engine to be the only option

The Gravite is likely to come equipped with the Triber’s sole 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 72hp and 96Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. A dealer-fit CNG kit for this engine could also be on the cards for the Gravite.

We expect the Nissan Gravite’s ex-showroom price to be in the region of Rs 6 lakh-9 lakh.
