Hyundai launched its first EV (electric vehicle) offering in our market – the Kona Electric – earlier this year, which is currently priced at Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The carmaker has since then gone on to receive 302 bookings for the electric SUV and has already delivered 231 units to their owners.

In a bid to further boost customer confidence in electric vehicles customers, Hyundai has started a new, industry-first Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) charging facility. This will provide Hyundai EV customers with the option of charging their Kona Electric anywhere and anytime via V2V; Hyundai will send an electric vehicle to your location for the same. This service is being offered in partnership with Allianz Worldwide Partners in a select set of cities, which include Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Portable Chargers are also available in Delhi and Bengaluru via roadside assistance from Allianz Truck.

Additionally, Hyundai has also installed AC 7.2kW chargers (fast chargers) at all its 15 dealerships that retail the EV, spread across 11 cities. The 7.2kW charger reduces charging times to 6-8hr, against the 19hr charge time of a standard 15A wall socket. The Korean carmaker will also supply all Kona Electric customers with a free fast charger for their residence, with a possibility of adding another unit at a second location for an additional Rs 80,000.

Hyundai is also working on a smaller and more affordable electric vehicle, keeping the Indian market in mind.
