On September 27, the 2015 edition of the Distinguished Gentleman’s ride was organised in India. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a global initiative, held each year to raise funds, and spread awareness about prostate cancer, which kills an estimated 1,300 men a day world over. Money raised from the charities is sent to not-for-profit organisations set up across the world to aid research for prevention and treatment of this disease.

The ride is not just to raise awareness about the fatal disease, but it is also a celebration of the art of being ‘dapper’. The criteria for participation is that the riders have to be dressed in silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits riding on Café Racers, Bobbers, Classics, Scramblers and quirky two-wheeled machines.

The ride, here in India was supported by Triumph Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd. Out of all the Indian cities, Delhi saw the largest participation with over 300 riders, who started the ride at 9am from Lodhi Road, New Delhi to Crowne Plaza in Greater Noida. The ride in Delhi was organised by Royal Mavericks, a New Delhi-based riders group.

The event also announced titles like Most Distinguished Bike/Ride, Most Distinguished Gentleman, Most Distinguished Lady, Most Distinguished Motorcycling Group, Most Distinguished Mustache or Beard and the Senior Most Rider for appreciating the effort of the participants for the early morning ride.

Other Indian cities to host the ride include Pune, Mumbai, Lucknow, Jamshedpur, Jaipur, Gwalior, Chennai, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Agra. The Indian leg of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has recorded a collection of Rs 2,47,500.
