Bajaj recently launched its latest cruiser, the Dominar 400, in India with an aggressive pricing strategy that is sure to make its competitors sweat. Bajaj began producing the motorcycle last month and launched it on December 15, with deliveries starting in January 2017.

The Dominar uses a 373cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which is the same as the one used by the KTM 390 series in the country. Bajaj, though, will be tuning the unit to meet the bike's requirements as a cruiser, so the output is lower than in the KTM family. It develops 35hp or power at 8,000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, and can do 0-100kph in 8.23sec and reach a top-speed of 148kph.

In terms of styling, the design seems to be along the lines of the Pulsar NS and the Ducati Diavel, with the tank inspired from the former and the squat stance seemingly from the latter. The Dominar comes with a 13-litre fuel tank and has 43mm telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. It has a 320mm single disc brake at the front and a 230mm unit at the rear, while dual-channel ABS is present on the fully-loaded variants.

The Dominar 400 weighs 182kg and rides on 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 front and rear wheels shod with MRF Revz C1 rubber.

The mid-capacity power cruiser is fitted with a full-LED mosaic headlamp that adds to the whole look of the motorcycle. There is a fully-digital split instrument cluster, with one mounted on the handlebars, and the other on the tank, quite like the one seen on the Diavel. The digital instruments include a tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, an odometer and trip meters.

Bajaj has priced the bike rather aggressively at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) with the ABS version at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
