Autocar India reader, Kannan T Mani has managed to shoot spy photos of TVS’s upcoming Apache 200 in its thoroughly production-ready, but camouflaged form. The new flagship bike from TVS is set to be launched on January 20, 2016.
The new Apache sports black 10-spoke alloy rims and typical TVS family styling, with its angular headlight surrounded by a curvy bikini fairing. The instruments are digital, with clip-on handlebars provided as standard, along with buffed alloy control levers. The new fuel tank is meaty, with deep thigh indents and a set of extension panels on either side. You can spot a belly cowl under the engine bay. The Apache 200 seems to be fitted with split seats and grab bars, along with a smart, flush mounted rear tail-light. A generous usage of lightweight alloy on parts, including the handlebars, footrests and their mounts can also be seen.
A single downtube, tubular steel frame will be standard, with box section, steel swingarm used at the rear. And what we know is the telescopic front suspension on this new TVS takes a step up, with fatter diameter tubes deployed for added stability and safety, supporting the extra performance to be delivered by the Apache 200. Rear suspension is a monoshock, sitting in the swingarm pivot section just ahead of a rear tyre hugger. The new Apache shall come with single rotor, petal-type disc brakes front and rear, and a sporty exposed drive chain. There’s chunky tyres front and rear, plus some buzz that TVS could offer buyers the option of Pirelli tyres with their new motorcycle.
The new Apache will make use of a 200cc, four-stroke, button-start, single-cylinder, oil and-air-cooled engine, with a compact oil cooler concealed just ahead of the tank area. Expect power output to match that of segment rivals. The exhaust canister on this test bike ends in dual outlets.
