India Yamaha Motor certainly revved a few hearts when it launched the YZF-R3 motorcycle in India last year. However after testing, parent company Yamaha Motor Company Ltd, Japan, has discovered defects in a few production motorcycles pertaining to the clutch pressure plate assembly and oil pump assembly.

Although there have been no reports of safety issues yet, the bike maker has taken the initiative to identify the affected batch of R3 motorcycles in India and replace the faulty parts. According to the company, 902 units of the motorcycle will be recalled under Yamaha’s factory modification campaign. Under this campaign, the defective parts will be replaced with modified ones at Yamaha’s authorised dealerships, at no cost.

The recall has not been issued due to customer complaints but is instead a preventive measure by Yamaha to ensure the safety of its customers and the proper running of the motorcycle itself.
