Royal Enfield has revealed the production version of its new Shotgun 650. The bike was first previewed by a limited edition factory custom version shown at the company’s Motoverse festival last month, and the version you see here is the one that will be reaching buyers once deliveries begin.

The primary area of difference between the two versions of the bike is the paint scheme - the Motoverse edition featured a very neat hand-painted colourway that included things like a colour gradient across the fuel tank. The production bike gets relatively simpler paintjobs - 3 of them: Green Drill, Plasma Blue, Sheet Metal Grey and Stencil White.

It shares its engine and main frame with the Super Meteor 650, so you get the same 648cc parallel-twin motor making the same 47hp and 52.3Nm. Areas of difference include ergonomics, with the Shotgun getting more upright seating, courtesy of a flatter handlebar and more mid-set footpegs.

Wheel sizes are also changed, and the Shotgun gets an 18-inch/17-inch combo as opposed to the Shotgun’s 19-inch/16-inch setup. The different wheel sizes have necessitated tweaks to suspension setup, but you get the same upside-down fork/twin shock absorber combo here. On the spec sheet, you’ll find that the Shotgun has a taller 795mm seat, a shorter wheelbase, shorter overall length, and is lighter by 1kg, tipping the scales at 240kg. However, it carries almost 2 litres less fuel than the Super Meteor, receiving a 13.8-litre tank, so effectively, it’s the heavier bike of the pair.

On the features front, it’s fairly identical to the Super Meteor, getting an LED headlight, a Tripper navigation pod and dual-channel ABS. Like the Classic 350, the new Shotgun 650 can also be bought either as a single seater, or with a pillion seat.
