Royal Enfield has upped the safety quotient of its Bullet range by adding a rear disc brake setup to all variants as standard equipment. Prior to the update, they had a disc in the front and drum brake at the rear.
The Bullet range of the Royal Enfield line-up consists of three motorcycles – the Bullet 350, Bullet 500 and the Bullet 350 ES (Electric Start).
Post the update, the bikes have been priced at Rs 1.28 lakh for the Bullet 350, Rs 1.32 lakh for the 350 ES and Rs 1.73 lakh for the Bullet 500 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Bullet 350 and 350 ES are powered by the same 346cc, single-cylinder engine that makes 20hp at 5,250rpm and 28Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The Bullet 500 comes with a bigger 499cc engine, which puts out 28hp at 5,250 rpm and 41.3Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.
Apart from the addition of the rear disc, the models remain unchanged. The Bullet is yet to receive an ABS system and remains the last one in the Royal Enfield portfolio to still not have it, after the Thunderbird 500X recently got the update. With the compulsory ABS regulation coming into effect from April 1, 2019, the Bullet series is sure to get at least a single-channel ABS, soon.
