A few weeks ago, we brought you news about KTM working on Rider Assistance Systems that it plans to introduce for the 2021 model year. The two systems in question are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
In a recently released video, KTM has showcased both these technologies, and we can see them in action on a KTM 1290 Super Adventure. ACC allows the motorcycle to follow another vehicle (anything the size of a motorcycle or larger) at a predetermined distance without any input from the rider. Meanwhile, BSD informs the rider about any vehicle approaching from behind which may be in the rider’s blind spot.
In the aforementioned video, which can be found here, a test rider sits aboard the KTM bike with his right hand removed from the handlebar and his right foot removed from the foot peg. As he does this, the motorcycle accelerates and brakes of its own accord to keep pace with the car in front of it. We can also see LED lights in the rear view mirrors illuminate as a car approaches from the rear and passes through the rider's blind spot.
