The Jawa brand has been re-launched in the Indian market by Mahindra & Mahindra’s subsidiary Classic Legends. To start things off, two new models, the Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty-Two have been introduced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh respectively.

At launch, we got to see the Classic finished in a maroon colour. Since then, pictures of the other colour options have been released by Jawa. The two new colours are Jawa Black and Jawa Grey, taking the total to three paint shades. Both bikes have chrome accents as well as gold striping on the front and rear fender, fuel tank and side panel.

On the mechanical front, the Jawa Classic uses a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor that is BS-VI compliant. The engine uses a fuel-injection system and delivers 27hp of maximum power and 28Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The Jawa Classic also comes with a single 280mm disc at the front with a floating caliper and a 153mm drum brake at the rear. The safety net of single-channel ABS is available as standard. The rear drum brake is aimed to give the motorcycle a more retro look. Telescopic front forks and twin rear springs perform the shock absorption tasks. The twin-sided, chrome-finished exhaust pipes further enhance the retro appearance.

Potential buyers can book the motorcycle through the official website for a token amount of Rs 5,000 that's fully refundable in case of cancellation.
