Honda CB750 Hornet launch details

CB750 Hornet faces very little competition in our market

The CB750 Hornet is the roadster sibling of the XL750 Transalp ADV and shares its 755cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which produces 92hp at 9,500rpm and 75Nm at 7,250rpm.

Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm Showa telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is managed by twin 296mm discs with radially mounted callipers at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The bike runs on 17-inch wheels shod with 120-section front and 160-section rear Michelin Road 6 tyres.

With its 15.2-litre tank brimmed, the CB750 Hornet weighs 192kg. Its seat height is a very manageable 795mm, although, at 140mm, the ground clearance will demand a little bit of caution on our roads.

In terms of features, the Hornet is generously equipped. It comes with traction control, four riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain, and User), a slipper clutch, a TFT display (similar to the one on the Transalp), and all-LED lighting. The bidirectional quickshifter is an accessory.

At Rs 8.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram), the Hornet sits in a class of its own. Its only real competition comes from Honda’s own CB650R – while the CB gets a smaller 650cc engine, it is the only model in this displacement range to currently get a four-cylinder engine.
