BMW has begun the GS Experience in India for the first time, this year. BMW Motorrad is conducting the GS Experience 2019 across 11 cities and will allow owners and enthusiasts to experience its GS range of motorcycles over a span of two days. The GS Experience is spread out across Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore in between February 9 and April 21, 2019.
The BMW GS line-up in India currently consists of six bikes – the R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure, F 750 GS, F 850 GS, and the G 310 GS. On the first day of the GS Experience, owners of 800cc and above GS models will go through a Level 1 BMW Motorrad off-road training under the guidance of BMW-certified instructor Shahnawaz Karim. BMW has said that the Level 1 training includes an understanding of the correct rider position, steering off-road, emergency braking and riding on inclines. BMW is also using the training days as a platform to scout for three riders that could participate in the 2020 GS Trophy in New Zealand. The International GS Trophy is a multiple-stage rally where GS owners from around the world will compete against each other.
On the second day of the GS Experience, off-road enthusiasts who don’t own a BMW motorcycle will be allowed to experience all the motorcycles that are part of the GS range in India. A Level 2 training program is also part of the GS Experience, which that includes more intensive off-road training, sharp downhill braking and riding across wide slopes. However, a schedule for this is yet to be announced.
