Voice on Ather: What can it do?

Navigation, vehicle settings, calls and media can all be controlled via voice commands

‘Voice on Ather’ is powered by a large language model (LLM) tuned to understand Indian accents and dialects, enabling riders to use natural conversational commands instead of fixed keyword prompts. The feature currently covers four broad functions: navigation, vehicle settings, calls and notifications, and media controls. This means riders can ask questions such as "How far is the nearest charger?" or "What's the ETA to work?" and also adjust vehicle settings with commands like "Change traction control to Rain" or "Increase screen brightness".

The system works with the Ather Halo smart helmet as well as any standard Bluetooth headset. This means riders can use third-party devices such as Sena or Cardo intercoms while retaining the same functionality.

Tarun Mehta also revealed that the next stage of development will make the interaction two-way, allowing the scooter to proactively communicate with the rider instead of only responding to commands. This aligns with Ather's previously outlined AtherStack 7 roadmap, which included voice-based alerts for potholes, ParkSafe notifications and tyre pressure warnings.

Voice on Ather is compatible with the 450X, 450 Apex and Rizta Z running on Gen 3 hardware and newer. The feature is not available on the 450S or Rizta S. Users have already begun reporting that they are receiving the feature via an over-the-air (OTA) update.
