The 350cc variants of the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure will be sold alongside the 399cc variants.

Following the introduction of Triumph’s smaller-capacity 400 range earlier this month, KTM has expanded its 390 Duke and 390 Adventure line-up with new 350cc variants aimed at lowering the entry price. However, unlike Triumph’s downsized models that replaced their predecessors, these new KTM variants will be sold alongside the existing 399cc versions.

  1. New KTM 390 Duke priced at Rs 2.77 lakh
  2. New KTM 390 Adventure priced at Rs 2.81 lakh
  3. All 399cc variants will remain on sale for now

The downsized engine results in a slight drop in peak output figures

The new 350cc variants produce 41.5hp at 8,600rpm and 33.5Nm at 7,000rpm from a 349.32cc engine – down 4.5hp and 5.5Nm compared to the 399cc motor. KTM says that key aspects such as wheelbase, ground clearance, technology (including the TFT console) and riding ergonomics remain unchanged.

All existing 399cc variants will continue alongside the new models for the foreseeable future, with revised naming to differentiate them. The 390 Duke is now called the 390 Duke R, while the 390 Adventure gains an ‘S’ suffix.

The 350cc 390 Duke is priced at Rs 2.77 lakh, making it a substantial Rs 62,000 more affordable than the 390 Duke R. A similar pricing gap exists with the 390 Adventure, where the 350cc version is priced at Rs 2.81 lakh – again roughly Rs 62,000 less than the 390 Adventure X, the most affordable 399cc variant. The difference becomes even more pronounced when compared to the higher-spec 390 Adventure S and R variants.

This raises the question of whether the additional 4-5hp from the larger engine justifies the significant price premium. It will also be interesting to see whether these new 350cc models end up cannibalising sales of the 250 Duke and 250 Adventure, given the now much smaller price gap. For reference, the 250 Duke is priced at Rs 2.17 lakh, while the 250 Adventure costs Rs 2.46 lakh.
