The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 will launch in India on May 24, and is expected to offered with both the off-road focused Rally variants and the more road-friendly GT variants.

  • Rivals the H-D Pan America 1250, BMW R 1250 GS, Ducati Multistrada V4

  • New 1,160cc engine uses a T-plane crankshaft

  • Over 25kg lighter than the previous generation

Triumph unveiled the next-generation Tiger 1200 late last year with a whole host of updates. The British brand has given its flagship adventure tourer a wholesome makeover – a new design, a new engine concept and a new chassis.

The bike would compete with the apex of the ADV segment, and include the legendary BMW R 1250 GS (here’s what we think of it), the stupendously capable Ducati Multistrada V4 and Harley-Davidon’s pleasantly surprising first crack at the segment, the Pan America 1250. This also means that prices will likely hover around the Rs 20 lakh mark – give or take a lakh – depending on the variant.

Speaking of variants, India will receive four versions of the new Tiger 1200: the the highly specced GT Pro and Rally Pro (no base variants in India), and the Rally Explorer and GT Explorer variants, with larger 30-litre fuel tanks. The engine is a new 150hp, 130Nm, 1,160cc inline-triple cylinder engine that uses a T-plane crankshaft. These are respectable figures that place it almost exactly on par with the Pan Am, while the Multistrada is a good deal more powerful and the Beemer is a little more torquey.
