Just a year after it first went on sale, Ducati has already updated the Multistrada V4 with some minor revisions for the 2022 model year. This year's Multistrada V4 S model gets a fresh new shade of white as an option, which Ducati calls Iceberg white. It also gets updated electronic suspension, where the system automatically reduces preload at low speeds and stops, thereby reducing the ride height – a feature we first saw on the Harley-Davidson Pan America.

  • New colorway for the Multistrada V4 S

  • Updated electronic suspension

  • Software and UI updated for the infotainment system

Adventure bikes like the Multi require considerable suspension travel and ground clearance to fulfil their off-road duties, which usually leads to a rather high seat, and this new feature is especially useful in an urban setting when the off-road capability is not necessary (India is an exception!).

The new model also brings with it software updates, which include improvements to the infotainment system’s UI, and can be availed by existing Multi owners free of charge. Adding to both aesthetics and practicality on the 2022 version are optional aluminium panniers and a top case, which are designed by Centro Stile Ducati, made in collaboration with Givi. Ducati says this works out to 76 litres for the side panniers and 41 litres for the top case. One can also opt for the internal bags, which are available as an accessory for added functionality, and are made from waterproof fabric with heat-sealed seams.

The Multi continues to get the much loved 1,158cc Granturismo V4 engine producing a healthy 170hp and 125Nm that comes mated to a 6 speed gearbox.

Stopping the Multi are the same twin 320 mm discs with radially mounted Brembo monobloc 4 piston calipers, coupled with a radial master cylinder at the front, and a 256 mm disc and two piston floating calliper at the rear. Aiding the Brembos is the inclusion of IMU-assisted cornering ABS.

The 240kg (kerb) Multi is suspended by a 50mm fully adjustable fork with 170mm of travel at the front, and a fully adjustable monoshock with 180mm of travel at the rear. This results in a seat height that is adjustable from 840mm to 860mm. It also gets 19-inch and 17-inch alloys, at the front and rear, respectively, which come shod in Pirelli’s Scorpion Trail 2 tires.

The Ducati Multistrada is among some of the most loved Ducatis of all time, and for good reason. The overall Multi package is that of a capable all-rounder, and the updates the company has made, while minor, should offer a meaningful improvement for shorter riders, thereby increasing the bike’s overall appeal.
