The Suzuki Hayabusa was launched in India on April 26 and the first lot has sold out in just two days.

  • 101 units of the 2021 Hayabusa came to India in the first lot

  • Deliveries of the first batch should begin by mid-May

  • The Busa is still India’s most popular ‘superbike’

Bookings for the 2021 Hayabusa are now closed though deliveries of the first batch should begin by around mid-May, the COVID-19 situation allowing. It will take around two to three months to deliver all the units of the first batch, and we expect a similar waiting period before more motorcycles are assigned for the Indian market.

India’s love for the Suzuki Hayabusa is no secret. The Busa’s iconic shape, massive size and movie-starring status have collectively cemented its legend in our market. By far, the best selling superbike in India, its success was reinforced by the fact that it retailed for a relatively affordable Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new Busa retains much of the visual identity that is so loved here, but it brings in a vastly improved electronics suite, tweaked suspension, better brakes and a 2-kilo weight loss. Unfortunately for lovers of the spec-sheet, it also came with a 7hp loss in power; the 1340cc engine now makes 190hp.

Priced at Rs 16.4 lakh, the new bike is also priced considerably higher than the old one, though this was to be expected. As it turns out, the lower power and higher price have had no effect on the Busa’s popularity and all 101 units assigned for India have been sold within two days.
