The 2021 Honda Gold Wing is here and it comes with improvements in the form of a redesigned pillion seat, a better audio system and a larger storage compartment at the rear.

  • Range-topping Tour model offers 11 more litres of storage

The massive Honda GL1800 Gold Wing is now in its fifth generation, which was revealed only in 2018 (click here for our review), and so this 2021 iteration doesn’t get a substantial update. Most of the bike, like it’s 1,883cc flat-six engine, chassis components and design all remain unchanged. It does, however, get a new grey colour scheme that Honda calls Deep Pearl Grey.

2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour gets more storage

Therefore, the biggest change is the addition of added storage space. The top-box on the top-of-the-line Tour model gets 11 more litres of storage, giving it a total of 61 litres. This should be ample room to hold two full-face helmets, addressing complaints that Gold Wing owners have reported in the past. The tour model also features a redesigned pillion seat - it gets a more relaxed angle, thicker foam and a taller profile. Speaking of, the seats on the Tour now have a suede-like cover, while the standard Gold Wing and Gold Wing Automatic DCT get colored seat piping for added contrast. The aforementioned base models get a few more subtle styling tweaks with red taillights and new paint schemes.

2021 Honda Gold Wing infotainment update

The next big change is to the Gold Wing’s audio system. Honda has upgraded the speakers to 45-watt units, optimized the automatic volume-adjustment level and added an XM radio antenna as standard. All the Gold Wing models are Android Auto compatible and also offer Apple CarPlay integration.

2021 Honda Gold Wing price and launch

Prices for the updated 2021 model start at $23,900 (Rs 17.54 lakh) and go up to $32,600 (Rs 23.92 lakh) for the range-topping Gold Wing Tour AirBag DCT model. The Gold Wing DCT was sold in India at Rs 26.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’s a bike we may see Honda relaunch in our country via its BigWing network.
