Follow usMahindra has launched India’s first all-electric 3-row SUV, the XEV 9S, with introductory ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 19.95 lakh. While bookings and deliveries are set to begin from January next year, Mahindra has revealed the prices for each variant of its third born EV, along with the features and battery options available. So, without further ado, here are all the details and what we’d recommend from the Mahindra XEV 9S line-up.
| Price and battery options | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| 59kWh | 70kWh | 79kWh | |
| Pack One Above | 19.95 | - | 21.95 |
| Pack Two Above | - | 24.45 | 25.45 |
| Pack Three | - | - | 27.35 |
| Pack Three Above | - | - | 29.45 |
Price-wise, the XEV 9S is positioned between the BE 6 (Rs 18.9 lakh) and the XEV 9e (Rs 21.9 lakh), with prices starting at Rs 1.05 lakh higher than the former and Rs 1.95 lakh lower than the latter. The XEV 9S gets an additional battery option – a new 70kWh unit that powers a rear axle-mounted 245hp motor – that has an ARAI range of 600km, though it is only available with the mid-spec Pack Two Above trim.
While the 59kWh battery pack comes only with the entry-level Pack One Above trim, the 79kWh unit is available with all four trims. In fact, the top-spec Pack Three and Pack Three Above only get the largest battery option.
Mahindra offers six exterior colour options for the XEV 9S. These include Stealth Black, Ruby Velvet (dark red), Everest White, Desert Myst (silver-gold), Midnight Black (navy blue) and Nebula Blue (a lighter blue shade).

Considering the sheer number of features on offer with the entry-level XEV 9S Pack One Above and with the 59kWh and 79kWh battery options at that, this is the trim to consider for those wanting a 7-seat EV on a budget. The next trim in line, the Pack Two Above, gets quite a few feel-good features and tech but costs about Rs 4.5 lakh more than the base trim, which makes it seem a bit of a stretch. The XEV 9S Pack Three offers nearly all the frills, a more advanced ADAS suite and an additional airbag, upping the feel-good and safety factor for a Rs 1.9 lakh premium. For Rs 2.1 lakh over the Pack Three, the top-spec Pack Three Above adds more tech but feels overpriced.
