The new Mahindra XEV 9S sits one rung below the carmaker’s electric vehicle flagship, the XEV 9e. While the 7-seat XEV 9S has a traditional SUV shape like the XUV700, the 9e has a coupe-SUV body style and seats 5 passengers at max. As a result, each EV may appeal to a different kind of buyer.

That said, the Mahindra duo have a lot in common when it comes to battery, motor and other key hardware. To make it easy to see where their prices, dimensions and powertrains align and differ, here’s how the Mahindra XEV 9S and XEV 9e stack up on paper.

Clearly, the XEV 9S has comparatively more affordable base and top models, and its six-variant line-up is one more than what the 9e SUV offers. The former also provides an additional battery pack option in its base Pack One Above variant and stands out with a 70kWh battery choice, offered in the middle Pack Two Above trim. Do note that the XEV 9S prices announced on November 27, 2025, are introductory and may go up later.

Save for its slightly lower height, partly due to the coupe roofline, the Mahindra XEV 9e is longer and wider, along with a bigger wheelbase and 1-inch-larger wheels than the 9S. The 9e offers more boot space as well. With the XEV 9S’s third-row seats folded, practically making it a 5-seater SUV, its boot capacity increases significantly to 500 litres, but that’s still 133 litres less than the 9e’s.

In terms of range, the 79kWh XEV 9S variants offer a slightly longer single-charge distance than the 9e with the same battery pack, but the XEV 9e catches up with its 59kWh unit.
