Follow usWith the implementation of GST 2.0, prices of motorcycles below 350cc have dropped as the tax rate on them has gone down from 28 percent to 18 percent. Among these, two of the most fiercely competitive offerings in the 200cc segment are the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Both are homegrown products known for their strong performance, sharp styling and impressive value, making this an interesting face-off between two Indian brands.
The starting price of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has dropped to Rs 1.41 lakh from Rs 1.45 lakh. The savings become even more substantial as you move up the range – the top-end variant, previously priced at Rs 1.60 lakh, now costs Rs 1.49 lakh. This translates to an overall reduction of Rs 4,000 to Rs 11,000, depending on the variant.
The Apache RTR 200 4V was recently updated with a redesigned front end, a new TFT display and traction control. Powering the motorcycle is a 197.7cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that produces 20.8hp and 17.2Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
The NS200 has a significantly lower starting price compared to the Apache RTR 200 4V. However, it’s important to note that the NS200 is a much older product that hasn’t received a comprehensive update, apart from the addition of an LED headlight and a few minor tweaks. In contrast, the TVS has recently been refreshed with a new TFT dash, traction control and a mono-projector headlight. At its current price, the Apache RTR 200 4V costs Rs 9,000 more than the NS200, and this gap widens when you consider the top-spec Apache variant priced at Rs 1.49 lakh.
