One of Mercedes-Benz’s most-awaited cars in India this year, the CLA Electric, is set to launch tomorrow. The automaker has revealed that it will offer the all-electric CLA in two trims: CLA 200 and CLA 250+. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric ahead of its price reveal.
1. What is the expected price of the CLA Electric in India?
Will be offered in two trims, expected to be priced from Rs 55 lakh
The CLA Electric will replace the recently discontinued A-Class sedan, as well as the EQA and EQB electric SUVs. Mercedes-Benz has revealed that the EV will be available in two trims, the 200 ‘Standard Range’ and the 250+ ‘Long Range’, expected to be priced at around Rs 55 lakh and Rs 59 lakh, respectively.
2. What are the CLA Electric’s powertrain specifications?
India-spec details are awaited, but it offers up to 792km of claimed range
The CLA Electric is the first model built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform. While India-specific details of the lower-spec 200 trim are awaited, the 250+ trim comes with an 85kWh battery pack paired with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor (RWD) that produces 268hp and 335Nm.
The WLTP-rated range is 542km for the 200 version and 792km for the 250+. Built on an 800V architecture, the CLA Electric supports fast charging; Mercedes claims that 20 minutes of 240kW DC fast charging can add a maximum of 320km of range to the CLA 200 and up to 400km to the CLA 250+.
3. What are the design highlights of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric?
Has a sleek silhouette and features a dual-screen setup inside
The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric has a sleek silhouette and follows the manufacturer’s latest design ideology. It features LED headlights with a star-shaped LED DRL in the centre. The headlights are connected by an LED lightbar. The grille is blanked off and is adorned with plenty of star motifs that give a nice contrast against the black backdrop. The bumper houses functional air vents to cool the electrical components.
In profile, the CLA Electric gets 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and flush-type door handles. The lower edges of the body feature a black strip that adds contrast. At the rear, it gets connected LED tail-lights with the same star-shaped LED motifs as the front DRLs. The lower portion of the bumper is blacked off and features a chrome strip.
