I want to buy a sedan with an average annual running of around 5,000 km, including long-distance drive. My budget is under Rs. 50 lakh. Please suggest a suitable option. I am looking for a replacement for my X1 and would like something that is equally good or better.

There aren't many sedans left in the market, especially at that price range, but with your low yearly use, and a budget of Rs 50 lakh cap, the Audi A4 is the right fit. It feels just as solid and quiet as your BMW X1, but with a comfier ride and a quieter cabin on highways. With your usage, a petrol engine's running costs should be palatable, and the A4’s seats and sound insulation make long drives easy. It is also easy to drive in the city, with light controls and good all-around visibility for a sedan. Alternatively, the Toyota Camry - though it doesn't have a luxury badge - is among the best all-rounders for the money, offering space, comfort, mileage and tech on par with the best.

Two things to note coming from the X1: you sit lower, so the view of the road is not as high, and speed breakers need a bit more care than in your old, taller car.

If you want to stay in the BMW family and enjoy a sportier feel, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is also within budget. It is fun and feels premium, but the back seat is less spacious, the engine is less powerful, and the ride is firmer than the A4. If you are open to an EV and have home charging, the BYD Seal brings strong performance and a very premium cabin under Rs 50 lakh.

Go for the Hyundai i20 Sportz MT for your needs. The hatchback has a spacious and comfy cabin, a premium interior, and it is very easy to drive thanks to its light controls. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is smooth, peppy and reasonably efficient too, while the slick 5-speed manual and the light clutch make driving in the city easy. The i20 is also fairly compact, so driving in narrow lanes and parking will not be an issue either. Also coming from your i10, the i20 will feel like an upgrade while still keeping you in the Hyundai family. The i20 has proven to be reliable, and Hyundai's service centres are widespread in the country, so your ownership experience will be stress free.

I wanted to buy an automatic SUV within my budget of 17 lakhs. I consulted Autocar, and they suggested the Kia Seltos to me. After test-driving it 4 times, I booked the Seltos HTK IVT and finally took delivery of the car on 13th May. To be honest, the car is very comfortable and good. I have been driving it in all possible ways, and it has not disappointed me at all. The mileage is also decent. I have no problem overtaking, neither on the highway. The more I drive this car, the more I love it.

Hi, I recently moved back to India and am planning to buy an EV as my primary and only car. My budget is around ₹25 lakh, and I am looking for a proper 5-seater that will mainly be used for city driving of around 15-20 km daily, along with occasional road trips. For the past six years, I have been driving Tesla models - first the Model 3 and later the Model Y - so I would ideally like to continue using an EV in India as well. However, I am still unsure about the practicality of the charging infrastructure here. I will be staying in a rented apartment near Outer Ring Road, Bellandur, Bengaluru. I have been informed that the residential community, which has around 2,000 apartments, currently has about 6-8 charging points, and the connected mall also has a few additional chargers. Could you please advise: Whether owning an EV as the only car in Bengaluru currently makes practical sense How reliable is the charging infrastructure in Bengaluru and across India for road trips Which EVs around ₹25 lakh would best suit my requirements in terms of comfort, technology, driving experience, reliability, range, and overall ownership experience Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Before committing to an EV, it is advisable to speak to electric car owners in the complex to know about the ease of charging. Public chargers in easy access are a plus, but the ideal and often most reliable solution is a charger in your own parking. Many housing complexes do not allow this, making it all the more important to research public charging options in the vicinity. In general, Bengaluru does have a wide network of chargers, so a weekly plug-in shouldn't be a hassle. Further, major highways south and west of the city have regular fast chargers, so planned roadtrips are very workable.Of the cars, the Hyundai Creta Electric is a sensible buy for your usage. It's a good size for Bangalore's traffic yet offers comfortable seating for five passengers. It won't match your Tesla's wow factor, but the Creta does pack in all the features that you would need and use over your short commutes. You can buy the 51.4kWh battery pack version, which offers ample range for your city drives. If you'd prefer a larger vehicle with more interior space, options include the Mahindra XEV 9S (the 70kWh battery pack is a good pick but just out of your budget) and the Tata Harrier EV with the 65kWh battery pack.

Being a Fiat Punto Evo owner, you're likely to lean towards the Citroen Aircross for its outstanding ride-handling balance, overall comfort, and its strong turbo-petrol powertrain. Fundamentally, it is excellent, and with the new interiors and feature set, it does make you feel like you've spent your money well. The only downside and perhaps the biggest deal-breaker for many is that its sales and support network is limited, compared to other brands. But if you have a Citroen touchpoint close to you, this is a car you must surely consider.In comparison, the Honda Elevate will be a more conventional option. What's nice is that its ride quality and long-distance comfort are quite good too, and its 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers strong performance.

From a pure product perspective, Audi’s cars like the A4, Q3 and the Q7 remain genuinely strong. Cabin quality is excellent, refinement is top-notch, quattro-equipped models are hugely capable, and the overall ownership experience can be perfectly satisfying. Where Mercedes and BMW currently have the edge is brand momentum, product freshness and showroom pull. Mercedes has the broadest luxury portfolio, while BMW arguably has the more engaging cars to drive in several segments. Audi, by comparison, has felt quieter in recent years, with fewer headline launches and slightly less buzz.Audi India remains committed, and service support for existing owners is not a concern in the way people sometimes fear.

The BMW iX1 is a solid luxury EV and does exactly what you would expect from the brand. It offers a premium cabin, good rear seat space and a polished ownership experience. But as an EV package, it feels more conservative and less exciting than the BYD.The Sealion 7 feels like the more ambitious product. The cabin technology is richer, the battery pack is significantly larger, the range is stronger, and overall, it feels like a more modern and more complete EV. In terms of sheer EV sophistication, it has the edge.On comfort, it depends on what you value. The BMW has the softer, more traditional luxury car ride, especially at lower speeds. The BYD feels more spacious and more special inside, but the ride is firmer over sharper bumps.
