I have decided to buy the Kia Seltos GTX(A), but I am confused about the colour choice.

The Kia Seltos is offered in 10 paint shades, so choosing the right one can get confusing. The Glacier White Pearl shade with the black roof is a great option to consider. It suits the GT Line’s sporty styling and highlights the gloss black exterior elements well. The contrasting grille and body cladding also stand out more with the white paint finish. Another advantage is that white colours usually stay cooler under direct sunlight. It is also comparatively easier to touch up minor scratches and paint imperfections.

However, the white shade will show dirt and road grime more easily during the monsoon season. As a result, you may need to wash the car more frequently to keep it clean. If you prefer lower maintenance, the Gravity Grey single-tone shade is a better option. It hides dust well, especially if the car is regularly parked outdoors. Small scratches and marks are also less noticeable in the Gravity Grey paint finish. At the same time, it still looks sporty and premium in the GT Line trim.

If you want something more distinctive, you could also consider Pewter Olive or Frost Blue. Both shades stand out nicely and give the Seltos a more unique road presence.

I am planning to buy my first car and am considering Kia Seltos base model, but I have a concern. I am 6'1" and my son is 6'3". Should I skip Seltos and consider Carens base model as it is more flexible and value for money. I need the car primarily for highway use but I might use it for travelling locally as well. Considering your height, the Kia Carens is the better choice. Rear-seat headroom and legroom will matter far more than features and, while the Seltos is a very good car, it isn’t as roomy or as flexible as the Carens.Since your usage is primarily highway driving with some city use, the Carens makes sense from a comfort perspective. You and your family will be spending long hours in the vehicle, and the extra room to stretch out will be appreciated. It rides well, is stable at speed and offers the flexibility of occasional third-row use or extra luggage space when needed. As a first car, its size is more manageable than you might think, and it is quite easy to drive in the city.One thing to keep in mind is that the Carens is now only available in a single Premium (O) trim. It has the basics covered, but it does look and feel a bit dated compared to the Carens Clavis. Overall, the Carens is a sensible and value-for-money choice for your requirements and a better fit for your family than the Seltos.

I’m planning to upgrade my 10-year-old Petrol Manual Baleno Delta, which has completed around 1.1 lakh km. I’m currently considering Kia Seltos HTX 1.5 IVT with ADAS & 360° camera, Mahindra XUV 7XO AX5 Automatic and the newly refreshed Skoda Slavia AT. My usage will be primarily city driving, with occasional highway trips of around 600 km. My wife also prefers a higher seating position due to back pain. Which would be the best overall choice for my requirements? Should I consider the refreshed Slavia AT, or would either Seltos or XUV 7XO be more suitable? My top priority are safety, relatively low maintenance cost and good mileage. I am not very keen on car with a lot of features.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with the IVT automatic is smooth, reliable and efficient, which aligns well with your priorities of low maintenance costs and good mileage. Kia's service network is strong, and the Seltos has a solid ownership track record.The Mahindra XUV 7XO AX5 Automatic is a good car, but it is a larger, heavier SUV and the petrol automatic is not as efficient as the Seltos IVT. It is also a bigger car to manoeuvre in the city, which may not be ideal given your usage pattern. I am confused between the Hyundai Creta King vs Kia Seltos GTX(A). The Creta gives me more features for lesser price, but those are just good to have features. The Seltos gives me a futuristic design but it is slightly costlier. My annual running is around 6000 km with most of it being in bumper to bumper Bangalore traffic.

Go for the Hyundai Creta as you're getting more value. The Seltos GTX (A) does look more futuristic and is more premium inside, but the Creta gives you more features for less money, and if those features actually make a difference to you in daily use, then it's definitely the Hyundai car you should go for. Mechanically, both cars are near-identical, so the decision really comes down to value for money and ownership experience. The Creta is the more cost-effective option for your usage.

We are planning to upgrade from a Hyundai i10 to an automatic petrol compact SUV under Rs 14 lakh. We have shortlisted the Hyundai Venue Turbo DCT and Skoda Kylaq Prestige AT. We liked the Venue, but we are not sure about the maintenance cost of its DCT gearbox.

Yes, dual-clutch automatic gearboxes are more complex and can be expensive to repair if something goes wrong. That said, the Hyundai Venue Turbo DCT is quite well-sorted.
