Hi, I am planning to buy an EV car between 10 and 15 lakh. I already have a Baleno, so I am looking for a second car. I am confused between the new Tiago EV, Punch EV and 3XO EV, which is slightly above my budget. I will be driving around 100 km daily. Please share your suggestion.

Pick the Tata Punch EV. For a 100 km daily run as a second car, its bigger battery gives you a safer buffer than the Tiago EV, and the higher ground clearance makes bad roads, speed breakers and monsoons less stressful.

If you have parking with a 15A socket, the Punch EV’s mid-battery version will comfortably handle your commute with overnight top-ups and still leave range in hand for errands.

Go Tiago EV only if the price is tight and you’re disciplined about charging daily. It’s easy to drive and cheap to run, but 100 km days will leave a thin cushion once you add AC, traffic and battery ageing.

@jk.4 actually the most sensible comment. There is no end to adding more range or feature. It’s good to have bigger batteries but bigger cars are bad in traffic. I have an Innova but always prefer the Tiago ev while travelling alone

@naveen5522 As per daily running of approx. 100 km, an EV makes perfect sense. My recommendation would be the Tata Punch EV. It offers a good balance of range, comfort, features, and practicality, making it a much better all-round second car than the Tiago EV. You should consider stretching to the XUV 3XO EV only if the higher price comfortably fits your budget and you want the extra space and performance.

Go for the Honda Elevate V CVT. The Elevate is also a genuinely comfortable family car for four, with a spacious cabin and a relaxed driving experience on both city commutes and weekend highway runs.The Punch EV is tempting given your office charging, but with regular 500- 600 km weekend trips, range planning and charging stops will add unnecessary anxiety. The Nexon DCA is a good upgrade from your current car, but the DCA gearbox is not as smooth or as proven as Honda’s CVT in heavy traffic. Hi, I am looking to buy a car. I like the Syros EV Blackline as well as the Duster Iconic Launch Edition. My commute is about 70km per week for office, and I would try to take a day trip over the weekend at least once a month, along with longer 700km round trips once every 3-4 months. I am seeking advice on what makes the most sense for my usage. I am also open to other suggestions. Also, if I choose the Duster, should I wait for the Duster Hybrid? What advice would you give?

For the occasional 700km round trip, you will need to plan charging stops, but with the growing charging infrastructure, this is manageable.The Renault Duster Iconic Launch Edition is a great driver's car with strong performance and excellent ride quality, but your usage does not justify a petrol SUV. The Duster Hybrid is worth waiting for only if you are specifically looking for a petrol car with better efficiency, but it will not fundamentally change the ownership equation for your usage pattern.If you are open to other ideas, the MG Windsor EV is worth considering if you need more space, but the Syros EV is the more premium and better-finished product. The XUV 7XO is the better driver's car, offers more features and has a more premium cabin, but for your usage pattern, the Hycross strong hybrid is the more sensible and hassle-free choice.

Help me choose the right car for my usage. Please be practical and challenge my assumptions. My situation: I am 31 and work as a software developer. I currently work from home in Balsane, Dhule, but I am moving to Mumbai around March. My wife and I are expecting a baby in February. My parents live in a village where local transport is poor. The AC is usually on, and on long trips, the car will have my wife, baby, and luggage. Budget: Rs. 6-9 lakh on-road. I am willing to spend more only if it is genuinely worth it. Shortlist: - Tiago XE Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart CNG - Brezza LXi turbo-petrol Please tell me: 1. Which one should I buy and why? 2. Petrol vs CNG for my usage? The CNG premium is around Rs. 1 lakh, and the nearby village pump may open around Diwali, but this is not guaranteed. 3. What real-world mileage can I expect with the AC on? 4. Please consider loan interest, fuel costs, maintenance, depreciation, and resale value. 5. Is the Brezza worth the extra money? 6. Give me one final choice and tell me what I should avoid.

The Brezza LXI Turbo is far superior to the Punch and Tiago as far as smoothness, performance, and cabin space are concerned. It is also backed by Maruti's widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free. The on-road cost of the Brezza LXI will fall within your Rs 9 lakh budget, and even though you might miss a few features, it still feels worth opting for. Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Dzire VXI MT for its large boot, comfy ride and strong fuel efficiency.
