Sir, I’m 23, and this will be my first car. I’m currently confused between the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus facelift 1.0 TSI and the Mahindra Vision S. Should I go ahead with the Virtus facelift, or is it worth waiting for the Vision S? My priorities are driving fun, long-term reliability, safety, features and overall ownership experience. If you were in my position, which one would you choose and why?

The HTK (O) IVT is a well-equipped variant, and the IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to city driving. The Creta SX (O) IVT is a higher variant, but the Seltos HTK (O) IVT still offers a strong feature set, and the overall ownership experience is very similar. The Seltos also has more modern tech inside its cabin, thanks to its new-gen electronic architecture, including high-res screens powered by Nvidia tech.

Both the Kushaq and Taigun are mechanically identical and offer the same 1.0 TSI engine paired with a manual gearbox, so the driving experience is essentially the same. The two are also similar in price, and the main features offered are the same too. Thus, base your decision on your personal preference in terms of the styling - outside and inside - and on the deal that you are getting from the respective dealerships. Also look into the dealer reputation in your area and factor this into your purchase decision too. From a driving pleasure point of view, the two cars are essentially the same. If you are looking for an alternative, consider the Renault Duster, which also offers an entertaining driving experience.

We would strongly advise against installing aftermarket CNG on any of these SUVs. All three – the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Scorpio N - are large, heavy vehicles with powerful turbocharged petrol engines. Fitting CNG to such engines is not recommended, as it can lead to drivability issues, increased wear and potential reliability concerns over time. More importantly, these SUVs are not designed with CNG in mind, and the installation can compromise safety and performance.If fuel economy is a top priority, opt for their diesel versions instead. The Mahindra and Tata offer strong torque, excellent highway efficiency and are well-suited to long-distance touring. If you are set on CNG, it is better to look at smaller, naturally aspirated petrol cars that are either factory-fitted or specifically designed for CNG use.Between the three, the XUV 7XO diesel would be our recommendation. It offers a more modern package, better ride comfort and a more premium cabin than the Scorpio N, while the Safari diesel is also a strong contender if you prefer Tata's design and feature set. But CNG should not be the deciding factor here.

If your priority is purely financial efficiency, a small petrol automatic like the Honda Amaze or Maruti Suzuki Baleno would be the more cost-effective choice.
