I’m planning to buy the Toyota Innova Hycross soon. With the recent GST rate cuts on larger cars, how much has the price dropped, and is it the right time to book? Or should I look at Scorpio-N instead, since the GST cut benefit might be more beneficial there?

If you are considering the Toyota Innova Hycross, the GST rate cut has lowered prices, though the impact differs across trims. The entry-level G and GX variants are now more affordable by just over ₹1 lakh, while the hybrid range gets a smaller reduction of about ₹60,000 to ₹68,000.
The Mahindra Scorpio N sees a steeper drop under the new GST rates, with prices now ranging from ₹12.6 lakh to ₹24.2 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra Scorpion N GST rate cut makes the benefit more noticeable compared with the Hycross.
So, if your priority is the Hycross for its space, comfort, and hybrid efficiency, the price cut is a welcome bonus and worth booking now. But if you are cross-shopping, the Scorpio N does gain a stronger value advantage post-GST, especially if budget stretch is a concern.

I am confused between the Tata Safari petrol and the Scorpio N. Which would be better, and what's the major difference between the Tata Safari Pure X and Adventure X Plus?

The Safari's three rows are much more comfortable and spacious than the Mahindra Scorpio N's, and its suspension feels a lot plusher too, making it better to drive as well. Overall, the Tata Safari feels more polished in comparison, hence it gets our vote.The price difference between Pure X and Adventure X Plus variant of the Safari is approximately Rs 1.40 lakh (on-road), with the latter being more expensive. For the premium, the Adventure X Plus variant gets larger 18-inch alloys (vs 17s in the Pure X), drive modes, one-touch up and down driver's power window, electonic parking brake with auto hold, rear defogger, leatherette upholstery and an electric driver's seat with memory.While these are nice to have, none of these features is a deal-maker. Instead, the Pure X variant is very well-equipped and actually a better value for money.

I am thinking of buying the Sonet HTK Optional DCT turbo petrol, which is around ₹12 lakh, and at the same time, the Venue HX5 turbo DCT petrol is coming at ₹13.5 lakh on-road in Bangalore. Which should I pick? Second, are heating issues still a thing to consider in both these DCT models?

Between the two, we would suggest going for the Kia Sonet HTK (O) DCT. The Sonet and the Venue share the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with the DCT gearbox, so performance and the overall driving experience will be very similar. In terms of equipment as well, both these variants are quite similarly equipped, but the Sonet is around Rs 1.5 lakh cheaper, which makes it an excellent value for money.That said, the Hyundai Venue is the newer car and offers slightly better rear seat space. So if rear seat comfort is an important factor for you, that is something to keep in mind.On the topic of DCT overheating, it can happen in very heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic where the car is constantly crawling forward. However, this gearbox has been around for quite some time and has seen improvements over the years. In normal usage, it is not a major concern, and there are safety systems built in to alert you if the gearbox temperature rises too much.

Hello Team. We are planning for a bigger car and are currently confused about whether buying a Harrier EV Stealth Edition makes sense, or if we should buy a used Innova Crysta and use it for 3-4 years and wait for EV infrastructure to develop more, as most of our running is on highways.

The Tata Harrier EV with the 74.61kWh battery pack is capable of delivering a highway real-world range of over 400km quite easily. So, if your highway round-trip is usually less than 400km, you can comfortably make it back to your starting point on a single charge. Even if you usually drive for longer distances, you'll need to plan your breaks or rest stops at places where there are fast charging options, along the way. In fact, even a 15-20 minute top-up on a 60kW DC fast charger will add an additional 120-140km of range.Yes, there are some challenges like chargers not working, or lack of electricity, or some ICE vehicle blocking the charging bay, hence you need to ensure you identify a few options (not just one place) on the way. To answer your question, go for the Harrier EV Stealth Edition. It'll feel a lot more special and the driving pleasure will be far greater than a used Toyota Innova Crysta.
