I’m planning to buy a new mid-size SUV and am confused between the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Neo Drive V AT, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Alpha (O) AT, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq. My budget is ₹20 lakh, and it will be purchased under a company car lease. My running is less, split 50% between the city and the highway. For my old Baleno, Nexa is offering ₹5.25 lakh with an exchange bonus. Please suggest the best option.

Since the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara are already on your shortlist, we suggest looking at the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. It’s based on those two models but is newer, offers a better interior, more features, and comes at a more affordable price.
Regarding your Maruti Baleno, you can check its market valuation on Spinny to ensure you’re getting a fair offer.

Hello Team, I would like your advice on purchasing a new car. I have been driving a Hyundai Creta E Plus diesel manual for the past 7 years. Now, I want to buy an automatic car, as my daily running is around 110 km. Please suggest the best car with good mileage and comfort.

Given your high daily running of 110km, a diesel-automatic makes sense for you. If you had a good experience with your older Creta, go for the new Hyundai Creta SX (O) diesel automatic. The Creta diesel-auto stands out for its smooth and refined powertrain, spacious and feature-rich cabin and a comfortable ride quality. The smooth 6‑speed torque converter automatic works well in traffic and on open roads, too. Hyundai claims the Creta diesel-auto will do 19.1kpl, but realistically, expect 13-15kpl in the city and 17-19kpl out on the highway. Since you’ve lived with a Creta for 7 years, the familiar driving position, visibility, and ride comfort will feel natural. You will also be familiar with the after-sales experience. The one thing you give up is a whisper‑quiet experience at idle; the diesel is a bit louder than a petrol or hybrid, though noise settles down once you’re cruising. If most of your 110 km is slow, stop‑go city traffic, and you want maximum km/l over diesel punch, consider the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Strong Hybrid V e‑CVT instead; expect roughly 20-24 km/l in city and 18–22 on highways.

Hi, I am Kunal from Kolkata and am planning to buy my first car. I have recently started learning to drive. My usage will be around 45% city and 55% highway. I am confused between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kylaq, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. My priorities are a solid build quality (as a first-time car owner), good mileage, LED lamps, a quality music system, and low maintenance. Please advise.

From the options you've listed, we'd recommend you shortlist the Hyundai Venue and Skoda Kylaq, both of which are turbo-petrol sub-4-metre SUVs. On account of their turbo-petrol engines, these will feel a bit more effortless to drive on the highway compared to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Grand Vitara that are powered by a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine. Additionally, both cars get LED headlamps, have good audio systems (the Venue has an edge with its branded Bose speakers), and both are generously equipped with similar safety kits. The Venue's turbo-petrol will be a touch more efficient, and its maintenance costs will be a bit lower than the Kylaq's as well. Also, its cabin is comparatively more spacious too. The Kylaq, on the other hand, has an excellent ride-handling balance, which gives you tremendous confidence while driving. We'd suggest you drive both of these, and pick the one that appeals to you more.
