    I am upgrading from a 2017 Tata Tigor XT petrol manual and am considering the Honda Elevate VX CVT because I like its road presence and reliability. Is this a good choice, or are there other suggestions?

    The Honda Elevate VX CVT is certainly a good upgrade over your Tata Tigor. It is priced well, has a good road presence, and, being a Honda, it is also reliable.

    Alternatively, you could consider the Hyundai Creta, which is more feature-rich and comes with a smoother CVT compared to the Elevate. Another option is the new Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which is more fuel-efficient and comes with a conventional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

I don’t feel confident that this bike is safe and responsive enough — it needs a lot of throttle, is hard to manoeuvre in traffic, and handles pothole-ridden city roads poorly, especially for pillion riding. I also have back issues. What would be the ideal bike for us to upgrade to so we can ride together comfortably, mainly in the city with potholes and occasionally on the highway? Bikes you should take a look at are the Royal Enfield Hunter / Classic / Bullet / Meteor 350, Scram 440, TVS Ronin and Honda CB350 trio. All have smooth, torque-rich engines, comfortable seats for two passengers and great suspension comfort. These factors will help you on both broken city roads and open highways. We would recommend you take a test ride of all machines with your wife so as to ascertain which one is best for you.

I’m considering upgrading to a new bike-TVS Ronin, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Jawa Perak, or the Classic/Bullet 350. Budget is not a concern. My usage is mostly city riding with occasional highway trips. Please advise. Between the options you've shortlisted, we'd advise choosing between the TVS Ronin and the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 for their laidback yet neutral riding positions and thumpy, torquey engines, as well as comfortable suspension setups. You should also look at the Honda CB350 models, as they have a similar feel and look to the Royal Enfield bikes, but have a more modern and lighter riding experience. Take a test ride of every machine you're considering before making your purchase.

    Asked by: Ram Kumar I currently own a 2020 Kia Sonet and a 2024 Honda Elevate, and I need a larger seven-seater. I’m deciding between the Mahindra XUV700 AX7 L and the Kia Carens Clavis HTX(O). Please provide a detailed comparison of these two. While both the Mahindra XUV 700 and the Kia Carens Clavis are seven-seaters, their strengths are quite different. The Mahindra car is larger with a more powerful engine and a comfortable ride, and in the top AX7L variant, it is packed with features. Fuel efficiency is not its strong point in either petrol or diesel, and the third row is not ideal for long journeys.The Kia Carens Clavis is more affordable with more efficient engines and is a better seven-seater. Thanks to a roomier and more comfortable third row. It is well-equipped too. However, while its engines are adequate, it does not feel as effortless or punchy as the XUV 700.Your final choice should depend on what you prioritise. If you are leaning towards the XUV 700, it may be worth waiting as the facelift is expected soon with more features and updated styling.

My use is moderate, about 10,000 km per year and I want a well-featured vehicle I can keep as my main car for 8–10 years. Please suggest. You should consider getting the Kia Carens Clavis. It's got a comfy and spacious cabin that can be had in 6 or 7 seater forms, and it comes loaded with features. The Carens Clavis comes with three engine options - a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Since your yearly running isn't very high, consider getting one of the petrols.
