I am a new and young rider who will use the bike for around 20 km daily and rarely go on highways. I am interested in retro-style bikes within a budget of ₹4 lakh. Please suggest some options.

In the neo-retro bike space, you can get credible options from Honda, Royal Enfield and Triumph. The Honda CB350 models and Royal Enfield 350s are similar in that they use big, air-cooled engines that prioritize torque over outright horsepower.

However, the Honda bikes are lighter than the REs, which will impact the riding experience significantly. What sways the decision towards the Royal Enfields bikes is that they have a strong low-and mid-range torque output. It results in a more effortless riding experience in the city without too many gear changes.

The Triumph 400s use a liquid-cooled, 399cc engine with significantly more power and torque than the Honda and RE 350s, and they also have a sportier chassis. As a result, their riding experience is more modern, and they feel significantly quicker.

Depending on what you want from your neo-retro machine, the answer will differ, so we recommend you take a test ride to decide what suits you best.

Hi, I am planning to switch from my current petrol Honda Activa 110cc to an electric scooter. Could you please suggest a good brand/model that is easy to handle, not too heavy, has a reliable battery, and offers convenient charging with good availability? My daily usage is around 50–60 km in Mumbai city. My budget is approximately ₹1-1.25 lakh, but I can consider higher-range models if they are worth it.

Since you have a rather long daily commute, we'd recommend going with an electric scooter with a battery capacity of 3kWh or more. In that space, you have options like multiple variants of the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak models. Both are reliable, dependable, comfortable, practical and no-nonsense offerings that come from established companies. You can also look at the Ather Rizta, although in your budget, you'll probably only get the base S 2.9 variant, which has a slightly lower range than the other two, although it should still suffice for your needs. A test ride of these three is imperative before you make a decision.
