I booked the TVS Apache RTX 300 on May 17th, but it has been almost six months and I have not received any updates. Should I continue to wait, or should I go with the KTM 390 Adventure?

It's disappointing to see that the long waiting periods for the TVS Apache RTX 300 persist even more than a year after its launch, and we completely understand your decision to switch to a different bike. Before you do so, we recommend reaching out to your dealer one last time for a concrete update, and also reaching out to the brand via social media or an official email address. Hopefully, this should resolve your problem.

If not, the KTM 390 Adventure is a capable, comfortable, and feature-loaded bike which will also serve you well, although it will be quite a bit more expensive than the RTX.

I’m planning to buy an entry-level adventure bike, mostly for my 30 km daily commute in Pune, along with weekend rides of more than 200 km once or twice a month. I’m confused between the Honda NX200 and the TVS Apache RTX 300. I’m 45 years old and 5 ft 9 in tall. I’ve had lumbar problems in the past, but I’m fine now. Which one would you recommend?

If you are looking for a comfortable ADV motorcycle, the TVS Apache RTX and Hero Xpulse 210 should be on your radar in this price range. The Honda NX200 is a dressed-up Hornet 2.0 and, aside from its look, isn't a 'proper' adventure bike. Both the RTX & the Xpulse are capable, comfortable and quick motorcycles, with the latter being the easier of the two to ride and manage - given that both have a tall 835mm seat height. However, the RTX has the better road manners and the far superior feature set. Take a test ride of both before you make your decision.It would also be prudent to wait for the Honda XR300 Rally, which should be available in a BigWing showroom near you in a few months' time.

Hey Autocar, I am a college student planning to get either an electric scooter or a motorcycle. I travel around 25 to 30 km every day, usually with a friend. I need to carry several items, including two helmets and bags. My budget is around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. I live in an apartment and can get the charging setup settled, but I am unsure which vehicle to get. Thanks in advance!

You should look at electric scooters with 3kWh battery packs, which will give you a more than sufficient real-world range of around 100km on a single charge and should also come in around the Rs 1.50 lakh mark. In the e-scooter market, you should look at market frontrunners such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Konarc (or even the Rizta) and Vida VX2 models. These are all proven options from reputed makes, and it would make sense to go for one that has a sales and service point near your residence or college campus for ease of ownership. Of them all, the Rizta and Chetak have the most well-designed and spacious boots, with the Konarc and iQube trailing them closely. Depending on the battery variant you choose, the Vida is either on par with the Konarc/iQube or slightly below it, but you should have decent storage on all. Take test rides of these before you make a decision.

I am 48 years old and looking to buy a motorcycle for my daily commute and occasional touring. I have the Pulsar N250 in mind. Is it suitable for me? What other light motorcycles should I consider if I do not want to stretch my budget much beyond Rs 2 lakh?

The Bajaj Pulsar N250SS is a budget-friendly, capable, and comfortable motorcycle that is likely to be a good fit for your needs. You should also look at the TVS Ronin and Royal Enfield Hunter 350, as well as the base Battalion Black Bullet 350. These neo-retro bikes place more emphasis on engine character and comfort, and all of them should be around the Rs 2 lakh mark (on-road). Take test rides of all and see which one suits your riding style and stature best before you make a decision.

Hi Autocar India, I have a budget of 1 lakh 50 thousand for a new bike, and a 125cc motorcycle suits my requirements. I’ve shortlisted the Bajaj Pulsar 125 and the Honda SP 125, but I’m confused between the two. Which one would you recommend?

Both the Bajaj Pulsar 125 and Honda SP125 are great commuter bikes, and it's hard to go wrong with either. The latest Pulsar 125 is a refined, feature-loaded (the top variants, especially so) and decently comfortable machine which should be fuel efficient and reliable in the long run as well. The SP125 has largely remained the same since its BS6 update, gaining only a few features and new colours - it is largely a Shine 125 in different clothes, which means it should be a straightforward and dependable workhorse of a commuter. As we said at the outset, it's hard to go wrong with either, so make sure you get a test ride and see which one you like more before you make your decision. It would also be wise to choose an option that has a sales & service touchpoint near your office or residence.

I’m a 40-year-old man, 6 ft 4 in tall and of slim build, and I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before. I don’t have a commute, since I live on a residential campus, so the bike will be for fun weekend rides. I’m considering the Honda XR 300 Rally Edition, because I don’t want to spend much more than Rs 2 lakh and its power-to-weight ratio is good. As a first-time rider, I want a light bike that can survive falls and drops without much damage. I also live in a non-metro city, where service and maintenance can be a problem, so I’m choosing Honda for its reliability. Is this the right choice, or have I missed anything?

The Honda XR300 Rally you're considering seems to have quite a lot going for it, judging from what we know of it so far. Another alternative you could consider is the Hero Xpulse 210, which has been around for far longer and is more of a proven commodity than the XR300 Rally. It's not as if the Xpulse is free from issues, but they are well documented and usually have a quick and inexpensive fix. Given that the XR300 Rally is a brand-new product, there could be small teething issues at the start, although given the badge on the tank, you're likely to be in safe hands in terms of the ownership experience, even if there are.

Hi Autocar team, I'm really stuck between two bikes for my first motorcycle purchase and could use your advice: the Honda Rebel 300 and Triumph Bonneville T40. I'm 5'10" tall, weigh 75 kg and currently ride an Activa 125. I also have some experience riding 150cc bikes in both city and highway conditions. Budget isn't a major constraint, as I'm comfortable spending around Rs 3.5-4 lakh on-road. Since the price difference between these two bikes isn't a deciding factor for me, choosing between them has become even harder. My usage will mainly involve a short daily commute of 7-8 km, with occasional weekend highway rides of 100-150 km. I love the Rebel's distinctive looks, but its 125mm ground clearance makes me nervous about uneven speed breakers and rough patches. The Bonneville T40 looks gorgeous, has plenty of ground clearance and seems more practical for occasionally carrying a pillion. However, its tubed-spoke wheels make me anxious about punctures on Indian roads. The delivery timelines also matter slightly, as I want to move away from my daily commuter. Another point to consider is that both dealerships are in another city, around 100km away on a round trip, so I'd have to travel that distance for servicing and any issues that might arise. Between the two, which would you pick as a sensible yet characterful step up from a commuter? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Given that we are yet to ride both the Triumph Bonneville T40 and Honda Rebel 300, we can't yet comment on which one is better, although judging purely from a practicality standpoint, the Bonnie ought to tackle Indian roads better with its longer suspension travel, larger wheels and taller ground clearance. If you must have either of these bikes, we'd recommend waiting a few months until ownership and media reviews are out and you can test ride both before making a decision. This is especially pertinent since you mentioned that neither brand has a presence in your city and it's a 100km round trip for you.In the meantime, why don't you check out the slower and heavier but charming and proven Royal Enfield Classic 350? The Classic may lose a comparison against these two judged purely based on its specification sheet, but if you like an effortless, torque-rich riding experience with great comfort, then the Classic will be up your alley. We've seen spy shots of the bike (finally!) coming with centre-laced spoked wheels, which will permit tubeless tyres, and we recommend you go for that when it is launched.
