I’ve been driving a Grand i10 Nios for the past 5 years. I want to upgrade to a Jeep Compass for its space and premium feel, especially since our family is growing from 4 to 5 (three children, all under 5 years). Is this a good decision, or should I consider alternatives like the Creta, Hyryder hybrid, or other models? My daily office commute is ~30 km, with little to no traffic, and I occasionally take long trips of over 600 km every alternate month.

The Jeep Compass is a very well-built and tough SUV, and also very good off-road; however, it is now quite old and rear space is not very good. This could be a problem with your family growing, as you have said.
You would be better off with a Hyundai Creta, which is a good all-round SUV, spacious, well-equipped and with good engine options. If you are concerned about fuel efficiency, then opt for the Toyota Hyryder strong hybrid as the fuel efficiency will be much better.

Just bear in mind that luggage space is compromised with the battery being placed in the boot; this could be an issue if you carry a lot of luggage on your weekend trips.

I have been riding a Pulsar 180 for 11 years and now want a new motorcycle with classic looks. My daily commute is around 8-10km, and I also ride about 400km on weekends for a round trip between my workplace and hometown. My budget is Rs 2.5 lakh. What options would suit my usage?

Within your budget, retro-styled bikes you should be looking at are the Royal Enfield Hunter / Classic / Bullet 350, TVS Ronin, Triumph Speed T4, and Honda CB350 trio. All options have comfortable suspension, upright and neutral ergonomics and will be good in terms of fuel economy too.Of these options, the Triumph bike will provide the most performance and have the best handling. A test ride of all those on your shortlist will be helpful in deciding which is the correct fit for you.

Dear Sir, good morning. I am a senior citizen currently using a Honda City and a Suzuki Access. I have been suffering from back and neck pain for many years, and now want to switch to an electric scooter only for local commuting. The Suzuki e-Access is too expensive. Please suggest a good EV scooter between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh, with a 3 to 3.5kWh battery and a comfortable, ergonomic design. Thank you. Regards.

In your price range, there are 4 options which you can consider - Bajaj Chetak 3001 / 3503, TVS iQube 3.1 / 3.5, Vida VX2 Plus (3.4kWh) and the Ather Rizta S 2.9. Of these four, the Rizta, iQube and Chetak have been on sale for multiple years and have proven their reliability. The Vida is relatively newer, but it should also be a pretty reliable machine in the long run.Do take a test ride of all four to see which one suits you best. If you are a taller person, the Bajaj Chetak will be the most spacious and will fit you better. It is also worth visiting your nearest authorised dealership and finding out the service intervals for each, as EV ownership differs significantly from petrol scooters like the Suzuki Access.

I would like to upgrade my Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise. I have been riding my brother’s Royal Enfield Classic 500 Desert Storm and find it easy to manoeuvre in the city, but I do experience back pain on bad roads. Can I go with a Royal Enfield, and which model would you recommend? My weekly usage is around 120km, and I have not done long rides so far, but I am open to experimenting.

Since you are already comfortable with a Classic 500, you can take a look at the RE Classic / Bullet 350. These Royal Enfield bikes will be comfortable, reliable and will serve as a good upgrade from your Bajaj Avenger 220.For similiar reasons, we would also recommend you take a look at bikes like the TVS Ronin and Honda CB350 trio. These bikes will have a somewhat similar riding experience, but are much lighter.A test ride will help you decide which is the right option for you.

I am looking for an automatic electric car under ₹13 lakh. My daily commute is around 40km. Which EV should I buy?

There aren't too many electric cars below the Rs 13 lakh mark, just the MG Comet, the Tata Tiago EV, and the Tata Punch EV.If you plan to keep your current Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the MG Comet will do well as an intra-city commuter and as a good second car. However, if you need this as a primary car, we would recommend the electric Tata Punch. The four doors make it more practical, and the larger wheels and better high-speed performance give you the flexibility to take it on small trips out of the city too.You will get the medium range within your budget, but if you can stretch it, the long range would make good sense as a primary car.
