I am currently riding an Activa and want to move to a geared motorcycle. I already drive a manual car, so I am familiar with clutch and gear concepts. Please suggest a good option. I was looking at the Honda H’ness or the Hunter 350.

Both bikes you have considered are good for a beginner rider. The Honda CB350 H'ness will feel like a more spacious and larger machine than the Hunter, which will be a good thing if you are a larger rider.

On the flip side, with its smaller size and 17-inch wheels, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will feel more agile and flickable in city traffic. Do bear in mind that coming from an Activa, both these bikes will feel quite heavy, weighing 181kg.

Something that will be similar to a ride but substantially lighter will be the TVS Ronin, which weighs 160kg. We recommend you take a look at the Ronin instead of the two 350s. Even though you are familiar with how to operate a clutch and change gears in a car, on a motorcycle, it is a different ballgame.

Do take a test ride of the machines you shortlist before you decide.

I want to buy a small SUV automatic (not AMT) within my budget of ₹11-12 lakh. My usage is about 600 km per month, mostly in the city. My priorities are a good interior, smooth ride quality, and good fuel economy. Please suggest suitable options.

Since you would specifically want to avoid an AMT, we would recommend the Skoda Kylaq. The newly launched Classic+ variant and higher Signature trim will be within your budget. The automatic version comes with a torque convetor gearbox which is the smoothest autobox around. The 1.0-litre engine also delivers well enough on fuel efficiency and performance. The Kylaq's ride and handling balance is good, however it does feel jittery over low-speed bumps and ruts. If this is a deal breaker, we would suggest you look at the Maruti Brezza. It also has a torque convertor automatic, which delivers decent mileage and has a very nice low-speed ride. But, it will be slightly above your Rs 12 lakh budget.

I am planning to buy the MG Hector Savvy Pro (top model) for around ₹21.5 lakh. It has almost all the required features and is very spacious compared to other cars in this price range. However, I am a little sceptical because I have seen many of your replies recommending other cars in this range-you mostly recommend Sierra and Seltos, but never Hector. Can you please let me know the reason? I will make my decision accordingly.

We recommend cars depending on people's specific needs. MG Hector is a spacious car and comes with a lot of features, and if someone is looking for those in a large SUV, we do recommend Hector. Hector has not received a full, ground-up generational change since its launch in 2019. Mg has updated it many times with facelifts, but to compete in the fast-changing segment, Hector would do better to get a full generation change. Hector's petrol and diesel engines are found to be thirsty units in the real world compared to their competitors. So if someone's priority is mileage, Hector falls low in their recommendation set.

We own a 2015 Hyundai i10, and have recently booked the new Venue HX8 MT. The issue is that Hyundai, including the dealership and ASM, has no idea when the booking, which occurred in early December, will be delivered. They just keep extending the dates. What should we do? Cancel the booking? If so, then which car should we opt for? Our budget is limited to the HX8 MT price, which has an OTR of 13.55 in Ranchi. Kindly help us out. We feel pretty helpless. Thank you.

We understand your concern and genuinely sympathise with your situation. A dealership is expected to communicate the status of your booking clearly and provide regular, transparent updates. If your chosen colour or variant isn’t currently in the dealer’s inventory, a factory allocation and delivery typically takes around 30-45 days from the date of booking. The Hyundai Venue itself is a strong product, and a poor dealership experience shouldn’t cloud your purchase decision. It may be worth reaching out to another dealer in your city; some outlets are more proactive in their communication and may even have your preferred colour or variant readily available in stock.
