I own a Hunter 350 Dapper White for over two years. Lately, the suspension has started to bother me, and I am considering upgrading to an adventure bike. Which model would you recommend within a budget of Rs. 7 lakh? If there is an upcoming motorcycle that is worth waiting for, I am also considering upgrading the suspension on my Hunter 350 in the meantime. I was particularly interested in the Honda NX500, but the latest version seems significantly more expensive. What would you suggest?

Since you're innately familiar with Royal Enfield ownership, upgrading to the Himalayan 450 seems like a safe bet. The Himalayan's suspension can iron out pretty much any road imperfection you encounter and its performance will be a big step up over the Hunter you own too. The only caveat with going for the Himalayan is that it is a tall and heavy bike, and these attributes will make their presence felt at slower speeds inside the city.

If you want slightly higher performance levels on a lighter machine, then the KTM 390 Adventure models (whether you opt for 350cc or 399cc iterations is up to the budget you have) are worth considering. The KTM bikes have great handling, punchy top-end performance and come with features like adjustable suspension, traction control and a bidirectional quick shifter - depending on the variant.

In your Rs. 7 lakh budget, you can also get the BMW F 450 GS, although depending on your city's taxation structure, you may need to stretch your budget a little if you are eyeing the top Trophy variant. The new entry-level GS is a competent machine and will be a step up in refinement from the single-cylinder machines mentioned above and it is also lighter than them. You will, however, need to be prepared for higher running and maintenance costs expected of a machine wearing the BMW badge.

Take test rides of these machines to decide which one works best for you before you make your next purchase.

If none of these options seem enticing, you could also retrofit the latest-gen Hunter's suspension to your older model which will bring some much needed relief in terms of ride quality. Do bear in mind that this swap will likely void your warranty and we'd recommend reaching out to your nearest dealership for more clarity on the same.

For 7 lacs budget the f450gs is a very promising offering given what kinda bike ur getting that too from a premium brand....and for most users the exclusive variant is the sweet spot as its a very versatile bike both on highways and in city and within ur budget... the trophy variant is for very serious adv riders i believe... but do keep in mind the after sales and service prices is also of the level of a premium brand and on higher side... if that is something u can live with then I shall say go for it...

Hi Autocar team, I am a mechanical enginer as well as car and bike enthusiast for last 3 decades. I have been following Autocar for many years. I currently drive XUV 500 & Ford Ecosport. In the past, I owned Yamaha FZ150 & FZ 250 as weekend bikes and I liked them. Now, I am planning to upgrade to a 350cc bike for city use in a budget of 2-2.5 lakh. I am 5'6" and 53 years old. I am looking for a powerful, bike with comfortable suspension for fun to drive city biking experience. I have no highway usage and I am not a fan of heavy bikes (less than 180kg is suitable for me). I am seeking value for money bike but dont mind paying a bit of premium for a bike with superior fun to drive biking experience. It should be reliable since I plan to keep it for 7-10 years. I have taken the test drive of RE Hunter 350 and liked it. Triumph does not have a showroom/service centre in my tier 2 city (Bhopal, MP) in central India (feeling bad to skip T4). I am evaluating Honda CB 350 models (tall gear and has less torque) and NS400Z (40PS at value) also. I have heard about Hero Xpulse/ Xtreme250 availability and reliability issues. Are there any other options and what are your recommendation?

For your location and usage, we'd recommend choosing between the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda CB350 models. The Hunter is more affordable, more compact and quite comfortable. It is also a very popular bike which sells by the bucketload every month and given how many are on the road today, you're likely to have a pleasant ownership experience without teething troubles.Meanwhile, the Honda CB350 models are larger machines in terms of their bodywork and spacious ergonomics but are almost on par with the Hunter when it comes to weight. The H'ness and RS, in particular, also have a more standout design and if you want a bike that's not very common, one of these is a good buy. Finally, the 350cc Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is a completely different ballgame to these air-cooled 350s and will offer much superior performance and handling but will be a little compromised on the comfort front in comparison. To make an informed decision, take a test ride of all three before you go ahead with your purchase.

I own a BS3 Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Since my running is quite low, should I continue maintaining and keeping it, or would it be better to buy a new bike? I also wanted to ask whether switching from regular E20 petrol to XP100 for my RS200 is worth considering. I am currently using E20 fuel and getting only around 25 kmpl. Will XP100 improve the bike's performance or mileage enough to justify the higher cost?

If your running is low and your Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is otherwise in good condition, there is no compelling reason to replace it. As for fuel, switching to the much more expensive XP100 is not worth it. The RS200 is not a high-compression performance engine that would benefit from 100-octane fuel, and you will not see any meaningful improvement in performance or efficiency. The lower mileage you are seeing on E20 fuel is expected, as ethanol blends generally reduce fuel economy. The best approach is to continue using the RS200, maintain it well, and accept the slightly lower mileage as a normal consequence of E20 fuel. There is no need to spend extra on premium fuel or a new bike unless you have a specific reason to upgrade.

Considering Delhi's current EV policy in 2026, would it be a wise decision to buy and register a new petrol motorcycle in Delhi? I am concerned about how future policy changes could affect its resale value. Would you recommend buying a petrol bike now or waiting?

If you are considering purchasing a petrol two-wheeler, then you should go ahead with your decision. Over time, your resale will, of course, be impacted by this decision, but that will be quite a few years down the line, and by then your needs and preferences will likely change, which means that drop is unlikely to affect you to a great extent.

With a daily run of roughly 20km, you can go for one of the smaller battery pack variants among the vast electric scooter marketplace. I've been riding a Honda Shine 125 for the last 12 years and am planning to upgrade to the Harley-Davidson X440 T. Is it a good motorcycle for a 60km daily commute?

The Harley-Davidson X440T makes for a good commuting companion with its torquey yet smooth long-stroke single-cylinder engine, neutral ergonomics and plush suspension setup. Depending on the traffic on your route as well as the way you ride, fuel economy will vary, but you should expect a big drop from your Shine 125 in this regard.If you want a similiar riding experience but a machine that is more affordable and with better fuel economy, consider the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350 and Honda CB350 models. These machines have similar attributes to the bigger X440 T, but with their smaller engines, they will be more fuel-efficient, although of course, you will have to sacrifice some peak output.Take test rides of these machines before you make your decision, depending on which one you prefer the most.

I'm upgrading from a Honda Hornet CB160 and am considering the Harley-Davidson X440 T or the Honda H'ness CB350. My riding is mostly in the city, but I can stretch my budget if the bike is worth the extra money.

Since your usage is mostly in the city, the added performance that the Harley-Davidson X440T brings over the Honda CB350 H'ness is unlikely to make a big enough difference to justify the big price difference between the two. Additionally, the Honda bike will also return much better fuel economy owing to its smaller, more efficient engine. Both are on a similar level when it comes to comfort, so the CB350 H'ness is the more logical buy between the two. Take a test ride of both to see which one you're leaning towards more before you make a decision.
