Previously, I was using a Maruti Wagon R (2009 model). Now I am exploring available compact SUVs. I am interested in the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi, considering an on-road budget below Rs 11 lakh. Should I wait for the facelift model or consider any other options?

It's a safe bet to buy the Maruti Suzuki Brezza now, but do note that your budget will restrict you to the lower LXi or VXi variants. Coming from a Wagon R, you’ll like the upright seating, great visibility and light controls, and the simple 1.5 petrol feels easy in traffic with the same fuss-free ownership Maruti is known for. The Brezza also rides more comfortably than a hatch and has usable rear space and boot for family runs. A facelift is unlikely to change the basics - especially in the lower variants - and will most likely see a bump in prices.

Keep in mind, though, the LXi is quite basic, and the VXi only adds a few more features. Also, the engine, while powerful enough, isn't very exciting or strong out on fast highways.

If features matter more than badge, look at the Nissan Magnite or Renault Kiger mid-trims, which land under Rs 11 lakh on-road and offer better equipment, representing stronger value for money. However, they feel a size smaller, and their dealer network is smaller than Maruti’s.

I have shortlisted Maruti Breeza Vxi AT( automatic). When I visited the dealer, I found that they are offering a heavy discount on Maruti Suzuki Victoris AT, and the price difference is not much. Is this worth buying Maruti Victoris? My only worry is that it is newly launched. Is its performance good, and after 5-6 years, will I get good resale value? As the dealer is offering a heavy discount, is everything ok with this car?

Go for the Victoris. It is the newer and bigger vehicle, offering more cabin space, greater practicality and a larger boot than the Brezza. The interior also feels more premium and modern, which will make a difference over the years of ownership.The only notable drawback is that the coupe-like sloping roofline slightly compromises rear headroom compared to a more conventional SUV design. However, for most buyers, this is unlikely to be a deal breaker.The discounts are not necessarily a cause for concern and are fairly common on newly launched models as manufacturers and dealers look to build momentum.Another factor worth considering is that the Brezza is expected to receive a facelift later this year. Buying the Victoris now means getting Maruti's newer product with a fresher design and cabin.

Hi, I am totally confused now, as I want to buy a CNG car in 1500 Cc and I chose the Brezza CNG. But I heard that Maruti is launching a new Brezza in 2 to 3 months. I have been waiting for the Brezza facelift since November 2025. Please suggest whether I should go with the old CNG model of Brezza or wait longer. Also, suggest other CNG models like the Victorious and Vitara. Pls help, I need a car desperately now.

If you can stretch your budget to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG, then get that now. It has a dual-CNG tank setup, so you still get a usable boot, and it is a larger car than the Brezza, which means a significantly roomier cabin.The Brezza facelift is due by the end of this year, but there is no definite timeline or confirmation on specifications. However, with the GST norms benefiting sub-4-metre cars with a petrol engine smaller than 1.2 litres, it is possible that the current 1.5-litre engine could be phased out. There is no confirmation yet on which engine the facelifted CNG Brezza will get. The facelift is expected to bring minor styling and feature updates, and if those are not important to you, then you can buy the current Brezza CNG right away.However, if the Victoris is not beyond your budget, then overall it is the better choice.

Hi, I am looking to buy an automatic car with an on-road budget of 11-12 lakh in Bangalore. I am considering the Tata Altroz Creative S AMT, Tata Altroz DCA, Hyundai i20 Sportz iVT, and Renault Kiger Techno CVT. I have heard that AMT gearboxes have improved significantly and are no longer as jerky as they used to be. My usage will include regular city driving, along with one or two highway trips every month.

The Hyundai i20 iVT Sportz is the best fit here. Its smooth automatic gearbox, refined cabin and proven ownership experience make it particularly well-suited to Bangalore's traffic while remaining comfortable on highway trips. It may not be the most powerful car in the segment, but it delivers the most polished overall experience.The Renault Kiger CVT would be the second choice. The CVT is smooth in city driving, the higher seating position is appreciated in urban conditions, and the turbo petrol engine feels more energetic than the naturally aspirated units in the Altroz and i20. While cabin quality and refinement are not quite at Hyundai levels, it offers good value and a more SUV-like experience.The Tata Altroz DCA takes third place. The gearbox is far superior to an AMT, and the car feels solid and planted on the road. However, the naturally aspirated petrol engine lacks the punch of the Kiger Turbo, and the overall ownership experience is not as polished as the Hyundai.

Pick the Mahindra XUV 7XO. At around Rs. 20 lakh, it gives you the best mix of space, strong performance and safety, and it is far easier to live with every day than the Thar Roxx while being a better value than a low or mid Hector variant. You also get both petrol and diesel choices, so you can match it to your running.Fuel choice is simple. Go petrol if most of your use is in the city or your running is under about 1,200 km a month. It is quieter, has fewer policy worries, and resale stays safe even if some cities tighten diesel rules. Pick diesel only if you drive long highway distances often, want a longer tank range, or haul a full family with luggage regularly.The only real downside with the XUV 7XO is that the fanciest features push you beyond Rs. 20 lakh, and there may be a wait period. If you mainly want a rugged toy, the Thar Roxx is great, but for family life, the XUV 7XO fits better.

I am planning to purchase a new automatic car and am confused between the Honda Amaze ZX CVT and the Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus AT. My usage will be around 90% city driving, primarily for office commuting between Dwarka, Delhi and my office near IFFCO Chowk, Gurugram (approximately 25 km one way). However, I will not be driving daily, as I often use the Metro as well. The car will also be driven by my 69-year-old father, so ease of driving, comfort, visibility, ingress/egress, and reliability are important considerations. Our previous car was an Alto K10 Manual, so this will be our first automatic car and a significant upgrade. Considering my usage pattern, family profile and the fact that we intend to keep the car for a long period for around 10 years, which of these two would you recommend?

Based on your requirement, we would recommend the Honda Amaze ZX CVT over the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ AT. The reason is that your priorities are not outright performance or driving excitement. You are looking for a car that will spend 90% of its life in city traffic, will also be driven by your 69-year-old father, and is expected to stay with the family for around 10 years. In that context, Amaze's strengths line up perfectly with your requirements. The CVT is smoother than the Kylaq's torque converter automatic in stop-and-go traffic, visibility is excellent, the car is easy to place on the road, ingress and egress are straightforward, and Honda's long-term reliability record is hard to fault. Coming from an Alto K10, it will already feel like a substantial upgrade in comfort, refinement and features.The Kylaq Signature Plus AT is the more desirable car from an enthusiast's perspective. The 1.0 TSI turbo petrol has more punch, the higher seating position is nice, and the overall package feels more substantial. However, it is also a larger vehicle to manoeuvre, and while the automatic is good, it is not quite as seamless in everyday traffic as Honda's CVT.Another point in Amaze's favour is that the ZX variant gets Honda Sensing ADAS, which adds useful safety features without making the car complicated to operate. Since your father will also be driving it, that extra layer of safety is a nice bonus.

Buy the Kia Seltos. It is simply easier to live with for most buyers, thanks to a much wider service network and many more variant and powertrain choices, including good automatics across a wider price range. For daily city runs with the odd highway trip, the Seltos will feel like the more complete package and it has a more spacious and premium cabin. The Skoda Kylaq will suit you only if you really enjoy driving. It feels tighter and more confidence inspiring on the move, and the steering has more feel. If you plan long, frequent road trips and care more about how it drives than gadgets, that’s where the Kylaq shines. The flip side is fewer dealers and fewer variant choices.
