    We are planning to upgrade our car with a budget of around 20 lakh. Our monthly running is 600 to 1,000 km, with 60% city and 40% highway usage. Please suggest suitable cars available in the current market. We can also wait for the upcoming options. Five seats are enough for us.

    The new Hyundai Creta will do well for you. Given that your driving isn't very high and mostly in the city, we would recommend you look at the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol automatic version. The engine paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is smooth and refined and will provide you with an easy and comfy city drive. And when you do drive on the highways, you will find the performance more than enough, and the ride stable too.

    Asked by: Sudhakar I currently drive a Hyundai Grand i10 (manual, petrol) and want to buy a new automatic petrol SUV within a ₹15 lakh budget. My priorities are safety, rear-seat space and boot capacity. I prefer models such as the Tata Sierra, Curv, Nexon, Venue N Line and Kia cars. My usage is mostly city driving, with highway trips once every three months. Please suggest the right car. Since you already drive a Hyundai car, it's best to stick with the brand, and in your budget, the new Hyundai Venue makes sense. It's the latest car in its segment, and as such, offers the newest tech and features. While it hasn't been crash tested yet, it uses a new-gen platform and features plenty of safety kit, so we expect it to perform. Its rear seat and boot are both pretty spacious for the class, and if you choose the N Line variant, as you prefer, you'll get some sporty design elements as well. The Tata Sierra and new Kia Seltos would have been better options for your requirements, but sadly, automatic versions of those cars will be outside of your budget.

    Asked by: Rajadurai S Hi Autocar. I am looking for a comfortable car with good driving dynamics. I am deciding between the Toyota Innova Hycross VX (Optional) and the Tata Harrier EV. I like the Harrier’s driving feel, whereas the Hycross excels in rear-seat comfort. What’s your take on this? My budget is under ₹35 lakh. As you rightly said, the Toyota Innova HyCross is better from the rear seat, while the Tata Harrier EV is more enjoyable from the front. It's up to you to decide where your priority lies. When it comes to performance and dynamics, the Harrier EV ticks more boxes, as it has a much stronger and more responsive powertrain, sharper steering, tighter dynamics and a pretty comfortable ride in isolation too. However, its shortcoming is that of all EVs - the limitation of range and dependency on charging. Plus, the Harrier EV has shown signs of electronic glitches, at least on early cars. If these are things you can work with, the Harrier EV seems like the better choice for you. The Innova, meanwhile, is the better all-rounder. It's more spacious and comfortable, with rock-solid reliability and a seamless service experience.

    Asked by: Gaurav I’m looking for a car for a daily commute of about 60 km and prefer CNG. I have shortlisted the Wagon R and Tiago. The Wagon R seems to offer much more value. What do you suggest? If you are finding more value in the Maruti Wagon R, you should go ahead with this, as in the end, that is what matters to you. However, do bear in mind that the boot of the Wagon R is completely filled with the large single CNG tank and the spare tyre, thus leaving practically no space for even small bags. The Tata Tiago CNG, on the other hand, has the spare tyre underneath the car and comes with a dual CNG cylinder setup which sits below the boot floor, thus leaving you with a decent amount of luggage space.

    Asked by: Gowtham Hi Team. I want to buy my first car and prefer an automatic. My usage will be around 700 km per month, and I need a sub-4-metre car. I’m confused between the new Hyundai Venue and the Mahindra XUV 3XO. With respect to mileage, which of the two is better? Please suggest. Since mileage is important to you, we would suggest the Hyundai Venue. We have yet to put the new generation car through our standard fuel efficiency test cycle. However, given that it carries over its powertrains, we expect it to perform better than the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The Mahindra car is tuned more for a peppy throttle response, and this drops its real-world fuel efficiency.
