I want to swap my Tata Harrier Diesel AT 2022 model, which has done 45,000 km, with a Jeep Compass Limited AT 2022 model, which has done 30,000 km. My driving is mostly in the city. Is it a wise decision? I am being told that the maintenance costs of the Compass are very high.

Your Tata Harrier is powered by the same 2.0 diesel engine as the Jeep Compass; however, while the Harrier gets a 6-speed torque converter, the Jeep uses a 9-speeder which isn't as responsive as the Tata's.

Sure, the Compass is a more premium-feeling SUV with a better-finished cabin and a more compact footprint, which can be helpful in the city. However, it is not significantly more refined or easier to live with than the Harrier, and even spare and maintenance costs for the Compass are higher than average.

Given that your Harrier is a 2022 model with 45,000 km, and the Compass is also a 2022 model with 30,000 km, the swap only makes sense if you are getting a very favourable financial deal. Otherwise, you are merely exchanging one diesel SUV for another.
