The base Pack One Above with the larger 79kWh battery pack fits within your budget and comes with all the essential comfort and tech features. In our real-world tests, we managed a combined 477.5km on a single charge, though that figure will drop sharply on the highway with a full load of passengers and luggage. Your highway trips will therefore need some planning around charging stops.If that seems like too much effort, then the XUV 7XO diesel automatic makes the most sense. It feels easier to drive in town than the Mahindra Scorpio N, with lighter controls and a smoother driving experience. Ride comfort and cabin noise levels are better, too, which your family will appreciate.A couple of things to note: with all three rows up, boot space is limited. The third row is also a bit tight for taller passengers, so check if it works for your family.Alternatively, consider the Kia Carens Clavis/Carens Clavis EV. It is from a segment above your other two choices and has the roomiest back seat, so three people in the second row feel less cramped. In traffic, it feels easy thanks to light steering, a smooth ride over bad roads, and good all-round visibility, which will help the driver feel relaxed. Toyota’s service is also simple to deal with.Do note one thing. The E trim is basic and usually comes with a manual, so if you must have an automatic, you will need to look at a higher Hyryder trim. The E trim doesn't come with an audio system, so you will need to add it through the dealer. If you want a smaller footprint for daily city runs, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi is your next-best pick. It is very easy to drive and park, but the back seat will feel a bit tighter for three adults. Overall, for five-up city use, choose the Hyryder E.

It suits daily traffic because you sit higher, get a clear view, and it handles bad roads and speed breakers well. It is built strongly and has done well in crash tests, which fits your safety goal. The automatic is easy in start-stop traffic, and the car feels steady on the odd highway run too.Know this trade-off: the engine is fine for city use but does not feel very quick if you push hard, and the automatic can pause a bit on sudden moves. Also, the mid automatic trim may sit near the top of your budget, depending on your city.If you need to save more within budget, pick the Tiago automatic. It gives you most of the same city ease and safety focus in a smaller, cheaper package, though the back seat and boot are tighter. If space and a smoother, quieter drive are bigger needs, the Baleno automatic is roomy and easy, but it may stretch your budget.
