I want to buy honda elevate. Please suggest to me if it is good in terms of safety and mileage. I am a first-time car buyer.

Since you are looking for a proven tension-free engine, pick the Honda Elevate, its 1.5‑litre naturally aspirated engine is a very reliable unit and coming from your Tata Altroz NA. You’ll appreciate the Elevate’s smooth, linear power delivery from a simple 4‑cylinder petrol, no turbo lag, fewer parts to worry about, and a decade of reliability in India. The steering is very light at low speeds, and this is also something you would like, given that you drive mostly in the city. What's nice, though, is that it weighs up nicely as speeds rise. The ride is a bit firm but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The 1.3 litre turbo direct injection engine on the Duster is also another good and reliable powerplant, and should you not like the Elevate, you could also look at this. You will have lower rear space, and the gearbox is a DSG unit, which in start-stop city traffic is not as smooth as the CVT on the Honda.

Given your high daily running of 110km, a diesel-automatic makes sense for you. If you had a good experience with your older Creta, go for the new Hyundai Creta SX (O) diesel automatic. The Creta diesel-auto stands out for its smooth and refined powertrain, spacious and feature-rich cabin and a comfortable ride quality. The smooth 6‑speed torque converter automatic works well in traffic and on open roads, too. Hyundai claims the Creta diesel-auto will do 19.1kpl, but realistically, expect 13-15kpl in the city and 17-19kpl out on the highway. Since you’ve lived with a Creta for 7 years, the familiar driving position, visibility, and ride comfort will feel natural. You will also be familiar with the after-sales experience.The one thing you give up is a whisper‑quiet experience at idle; the diesel is a bit louder than a petrol or hybrid, though noise settles down once you’re cruising.If most of your 110 km is slow, stop‑go city traffic, and you want maximum km/l over diesel punch, consider the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Strong Hybrid V e‑CVT instead; expect roughly 20-24 km/l in city and 18–22 on highways.

If you're after a sedan alone, go for the Volkswagen Virtus. With the comfort of a sedan and ground clearance of 179mm, you get the best of both worlds here. Moreover, it has a 521-litre boot, so transporting all your stuff should not be an issue either. They've tuned the Virtus's suspension very well, so while it retains Volkswagen's typically sharp handling, it's incredibly comfortable as well. It remains flat and composed over a variety of surfaces, more so as speeds rise. Sadly, no sedan in this segment offers diesel anymore, but VW's TSI turbo petrols can be fuel-efficient if driven carefully. If you'd prefer an SUV, check out the Kia Seltos, which is spacious too and has a supple ride quality. Plus, it's got sufficient ground clearance, while not being so high off the ground as to make ingress and egress difficult for your elderly parents.
