I have shortlisted the Innova HyCross Hybrid and the XEV 9S. Please advise which one I should buy. My usage is mostly city driving with occasional long trips.

The Toyota Innova HyCross is a good option for you. It is spacious, comfortable, and its strong hybrid powertrain will deliver an efficiency of around 13kpl in the city and 16kpl on the highway. Also, as a 7-seater, it is more comfortable, with ample space for adults in all three rows. Its ride quality is impressive in the city, and out on the highway too.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is much better equipped in comparison, and on account of its pricing, it is a better value for money. But while the XEV 9S is comfortable in the city, its ride feels a bit bouncy on the highway, and space in the third row is much tighter than the Hycross. Hence, as a 7-seater, the Toyota car is the one to go for.

I am planning to buy an SUV for myself and my family. My daily driving will be around 80 km, and I plan to do occasional off-roading once a month. My average monthly driving is about 2,000 km. I am looking for a powerful, safe, and secure vehicle with 7 seats that is also economical. I am open to electric, hybrid, petrol, and diesel options, but not CNG. I own a ecosport tdi 2017 Pre facelift with 60,000 km on the odometer after 9 years. I plan to keep it for city use and buy another car mainly for highway drives, as we take long trips twice a year. I am considering an EV or a diesel but am open to suggestions. We are a family of six, including two senior citizens.

For highway trips, this Kia car is stable enough and the diesel automatic option works very well if you want efficiency.If you want the best possible comfort and willing to spend more, the Toyota Innova HyCross is in a different league. Diesel, on the other hand, is ethanol-free. Secondly, both variants produce the same 400 Nm of torque, so does the difference between 197 hp (diesel) and 258 hp (petrol) make a significant real-world impact? Which variant would be the smarter choice for hassle-free maintenance, good mileage, and ownership over the next 5-7 years?
