I own a 2017 Hyundai i20 Asta (O) with around 60,000 km on the odometer. I am planning to upgrade with a budget of Rs. 20 lakh. My priorities are an automatic transmission, ADAS, a sunroof and a powered tailgate. I have shortlisted the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster. Which of these would be the best long-term choice, and why?

Pick the Hyundai Creta. It is the smoothest step-up from your i20 and the most complete long-term choice here, with a calm CVT automatic for city traffic, a comfortable ride, and Hyundai’s wider service reach and resale backing you over 8-10 years.

The Creta gets ADAS on the top automatic trims, and you still get the big sunroof and all the tech you’d want. However, it does miss out on a powered tailgate, which the Duster gets. If you're okay with not having that feature, the Creta represents the best option here.

I am planning to buy a new car with a budget of Rs 25 lakh. I currently drive a 2021 Kia Sonet DCT and am quite interested in the Thar Roxx. However, around 80% of my driving is in Hyderabad’s heavy traffic. Is the Thar Roxx a good choice for my usage, or are there other options worth considering?

With 80 percent of your driving in Hyderabad's heavy traffic, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is not the most sensible upgrade from your Kia Sonet DCT. The Thar Roxx is a lifestyle SUV with a rugged, off-road-focused character, and while it is great fun on trails and highways, it is not the most comfortable or practical daily driver in dense city traffic. The ride is firm, the turning circle is large, and the overall driving experience can become tiring in stop-and-go conditions.Given your budget of Rs 25 lakh, a more practical upgrade would be something like the Kia Seltos or Hyundai Creta. Both offer a significant step up in space, comfort and refinement over the Sonet, and are far better suited to daily city driving while still being capable on highways. If you are looking for something with a bit more character, the Skoda Kushaq or Volkswagen Taigun are also worth considering, especially if you enjoy driving.If you are still drawn to the Thar Roxx for its lifestyle appeal, it is best approached as a second car rather than a primary daily driver. I live in Hyderabad and am looking for a 5-seater car with a manual transmission and a minimum boot space of 470 litres. I prefer a manual because I feel automatic transmissions are more complex and could be expensive to repair in the future. Another, slightly unusual requirement is that I want a car with a reliable engine and transmission that can last 12-13 years or more, provided it receives timely engine oil changes and regular maintenance. Can anyone suggest some good manual SUV cars with an on-road price below Rs. 20 lakh?

Given your requirements for a large boot, opt for the Honda Elevate. At 458 litres the boot is under your specific measurement but is very well shaped and can easily managed a lot of cargo. Honda are known for their engines and your second requirement of a very reliable engine and gearbox will also be met with the Elevate. If you must have a minimum boot space of 470 litres consider the Renault Duster. At 518 litres the boot is the largest in the mid-size segment and the roof rails are also functional and can hold up to 50kgs so should you need even more space you can opt for a roof box, however check with your local RTO as these are not legal in many instances. If you are not looking for a very peppy drive feel, opt for the smaller 1.0 liter engine which does quite well in everyday traffic and even at steady cruising out on the highway. The engine and gearbox as well as the entire car is built tough and will last you for the 12 odd years you are looking to keeping the car, provided of course all services are done in a timely manner and the car is well looked after.

I used to own a manual Ford EcoSport Trend Petrol model manual which I drove for 7 years. But as the service centre in Guwahati shut down recently, and also due to the lack of readily available spare parts, I was compelled to sell it. Recently, I had booked a Renault Duster Adventure 1.3L DCT and might get the vehicle delivered within a week. I have also taken the test drive and liked the power and comfort. But my concern comes from the fact that the sales figures have gone down from 512 units in July 2026 to zero in August 2026. So will it right to go ahead with the Duster, seeing their sales figures going down? As an alternative, I am looking for the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7 turbo Petrol TC. My budget is within Rs. 17.50 lakhs.

Go ahead with the Renault Duster 1.3 DCT. It is a genuinely good product, and the 1.3 turbo petrol paired with the DCT is a strong, enjoyable powertrain. The Duster is also one of the few cars in the segment that genuinely stands out for its ride comfort and driving dynamics, which is exactly what you liked during your test drive.The Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7 Turbo Petrol AT is a very good alternative, but it is a different proposition. The 3XO is a modern product with a rich feature list, but it does not offer the same level of driving engagement or ride comfort as the Duster. The Duster is the better driver's car, and if that is what you are looking for, it is the right choice.The only thing to check is Renault's service network in Guwahati. Make sure there is a reliable service centre nearby, as that was the reason you sold your EcoSport in the first place. If Renault's service network is strong in your area, go ahead with the Duster. If not, the 3XO is the safer ownership proposition.

I have a Tata Nexon Creative AMT that is only a year old, but I have already had to replace the spark plugs four times and the ignition coil once. I am still facing engine misfires and vibrations inside the car. I am honestly fed up with Tata's service, as they have been unable to resolve the issue. I currently drive a Grand i10 Manual petrol and am now planning to buy a new compact SUV that is comfortable, fuel efficient and has low maintenance. My usage is 35km of daily office commute in Delhi-NCR traffic. Please advice which option is best fit amongst Hyundai Venue HX 6T, SONET HTK+O and XUV 3XO.

Go for the Hyundai Venue. With your daily 35km commute in Delhi NCR traffic, comfort and low maintenance are key, and the Venue delivers on both. The 1.2 NA petrol is smooth, refined and easy to drive in stop-start conditions, while Hyundai’s service network and ownership experience are among the best in the segment. The HX6T variant also gives you a good balance of features without pushing the budget too far.The Sonet HTK+O is mechanically very similar, but the Venue is a newer model and offers a more spacious cabin.
