I am planning to buy the new Punch EV, but am confused between the Windsor EV Base and the Punch EV top models. Which one should I go for?

It really comes down to what you value more from your EV. The Tata Punch EV is a size smaller and, after the recent facelift and near Rs 2 lakh price correction on the top variants, it has become significantly more affordable. As a result, the top spec Punch EV now undercuts the base MG Windsor EV by over a lakh, while offering a lot more equipment for the money.

From a technical and usability point of view, even though we have not yet driven the facelifted version, the Tata Punch EV has a clear advantage in range. Its larger 40 kWh battery pack should deliver a better real-world driving range than the base variant of the MG Windsor EV, which uses a 38 kWh battery. Being smaller and lighter also helps the Punch extract more efficiency from its battery. In top spec form, it is very well equipped, and if most of your driving involves one or two adults. It will feel easier to live with, simpler to drive in traffic and much easier to park in tight city spaces thanks to its compact dimensions.

The Windsor EV, however, plays to a completely different strength. If you want a larger car with an outstanding sense of space, it is hard to beat even when compared to cars from a segment above. In comparison, while the Punch EV’s rear seat is adequate, it can start to feel cramped for adults on longer drives.

In simple terms, pick the Punch EV top variant if you want better range, more features for the price and a compact, city-friendly EV that will mostly carry two people. Choose the Windsor EV if cabin space and rear seat comfort matter more to you than features and outright range.

Make sure to check the suspensions. I test drove both and found Windsor’s suspension quite bad. Compared to punch ev whose suspension is comparable to top selling non-luxury sedans.

If you have a driver, go for Windsor base model If you mostly travel with family of 4 , go for Windsor base If you or other members have to sit in the car for long time , go for Windsor base If you want to drive yourself, go for Punch , it is better fun as compared to Windsor. If mostly you drive or two travel go for Punch If you love modern gadgets in the car ,go for Punch top model

Pick the Tata Punch EV with the 40 kWh battery as your first choice. For your usage, mostly city driving in Kochi with occasional Coimbatore trips, it fits almost perfectly.The biggest advantage is how effortless and cost-effective it is to run in the city. It is smooth, silent and requires very little maintenance compared to petrol cars, which suits your usage pattern. With the larger 40 kWh battery, it offers a real-world range that is more than enough for your daily use and can comfortably handle the Kochi to Coimbatore run with planning, without range anxiety.It also comes with modern connected features and a good infotainment setup, so you are covered on the tech side as well, which you specifically wanted.If you are not fully convinced about going electric, then as a petrol alternative, you can look at the Skoda Kylaq automatic in the Signature variant. It offers a strong engine, a more engaging drive and a proper automatic experience, making it a good fallback if charging setup is a concern.

Hi Autocar Team, I am confused between the Tata Sierra automatic and the Renault Duster automatic. My primary usage will be occasional road trips (once every two months) along with limited city driving. I found both cars comfortable during my test drives. The Sierra feels more premium and feature-loaded, while the Duster seems simpler but adequately equipped. I also prefer a higher seating position and strong road presence. Could you please advise?

It’s genuinely a tough choice because both cars do different things well.The Tata Sierra, as you’ve noticed, feels more sophisticated and upmarket. It’s also significantly larger, which makes a difference on longer trips, especially with family. Rear-seat comfort, space, and overall refinement are clear strengths, and it feels very stable and planted on the highway. If your usage leans toward relaxed road trips, this plays strongly in its favour.The Renault Duster, on the other hand, is still the more engaging driver’s car. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol is punchy and enjoyable, though there is some turbo lag, so it doesn’t feel as strong low down in the rev range, and this is something you’ll notice when powering out of corners or when driving in the hills. That said, its lighter, more compact nature gives it a nimbleness the Sierra can’t match, and the ride-handling balance is excellent. It just feels more fun to drive.Where it does fall short is space, especially in the rear seat, which is noticeably tighter than the Sierra.Given your priorities of occasional road trips, a preference for a higher driving position, and road presence, the Sierra edges ahead as the more rounded and comfortable choice. But if driving feels matters more to you, the Duster still has that classic appeal.

Is there any better car than the Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross? Which one is better between the two considering my usage is 2,500–3,000 km per month for city and highway driving.

On long runs it cruises calmly, the seats are comfortable and supportive. Cabin of this Toyota car is spacious that can comfortably accommodate your family.The Toyota Innova Crysta still has two clear strengths. If you often carry seven adults plus luggage, or drive on rough roads a lot, the Crysta’s diesel engine feels more relaxed with a full load and the body-on-frame feels very tough. However, it is now only available with a manual gearbox, so driving in stop-start city traffic can get tiring. Trade-offs with the HyCross: the hybrid costs more upfront than a Crysta.
